Title: What are your "vices"?
Post by: Jeremy Mitchell on February 05, 2012, 07:54:12 AM
Here are three of mine in one picture.  Can anyone identify my cigar?

The cigar is an Acid.

Firearms, motorcycles, and computers top my list of vices.

You are correct sir.  Acid 1400 cc, I just wish it was a 1352 cc then it would be the perfect smoke for the C14.  The best $9 cigar I have ever had.

Motorcycles, SCUBA and firearms are my top 3. Going on long rides with my son and brothers, stopping for the night near a nice brew pub is my favorite vice. Last summer for the first time I was able to combine my top 2 by riding down to Pensacola with my son to dive the Oriskany.

Micro Brewery/restaurants are a great way to spend an evening.  I got hooked on them in Germany where the food and beer were both equally good.

I thought maybe Jeremy was saying his flip flops are a vice, guns aint a vice, they're a tool ;D

That is why I used "vice" in quotations.  I have hobbies that my wife gripes about and motorcycles, cigars, and guns are at the top of her list to give me grief over.   Maybe that is why I love them so much.  ;D  Guns and motorcycles are gonna be in my life for as long as I can use them, cigars might be given up so that I can steer clear of health issues.

Motorcycle = vice. check
Glock = vice. check
Acid cigar, aka dog rocket, aka mutt missle, aka the pinched loaf = vice. That's no vice, it's pure self hatred... :o

They're not vices, they're character traits.

If a vice is something that kills you, my heart surgery on Jan 9th suggests that eating food that actually tastes good is a problem.  Also, since I actually care about the people that come for counseling, the stress I internalize suggests that Loving people is a problem.  Motorcycles, firearms, fishing, and computers appear to be somewhat healthy.

I woudl like to give up smoking as thats one that will kill me.  I thought about listing "motorcycle parts" but ....well, it probably is.  Still, there is a lot of enjoyment, for me, in ordering misc. stuff for my bikes.

What do you recommend for a good, mild cigar?  I enjoy the sweet taste and smooth draw of the Acid blue label cigars, other than that I usually smoke  Backwoods.  I have tried some big names like Cohiba, Romeo y Julieta, and some others that I can't recall and I didn't care for a single one.  I just choked them down while playing poker and enjoyed the time with my buddies.

Well... My bike(s), skiing, cars and my firearms... The little WRX has helped me keep what little sanity I have While I've ben banned from riding and skiing. I'm really addicted to 1911s... Right now I have a couple of Kimbers and a Colt Talo. Since I am most comfortable with a 1911 (type) SA, my pocket gun is a little Sig P238... It's like a little itsy bitsy 1911. Until I get rid of the back brace, I'm stuck with pocket carry... Cocked 'n locked!

Why do I feel like I need to toss in qualifiers?  I love my wife and kids!  Nothing  can/wil interfere with that.  That said, I ride every day, that is my rfirst vice.  My wife says I love my bike more than I love her.  I also love beer, especially a good micro brew.  To that end, I started brewing my own.  That is my second vice.  My third vice?  Blogs, I stay up WAY too late reading, and posting on WAAAY too many blogs.  I LOVE useless information!

@ cigarski, have you tried any of the Dogfish head Pale Ales?  I can't get them here in St. Louis, I have to ride to Kentucky or Indiana (oh DAMN!) to get the 60 minute IPA.  The hops in that beer are like nothing I've had before!  Speaking of Kentucky, they have a beer called Kentucky Bourbon Ale, that is pretty tasty!  I'm working on a recipe for that one!
