Final drive gear oil change
« on: September 23, 2021, 06:44:38 PM »
So the Kawasaki book doesn't say anything about synthetic, I have the gear oil but not synthetic, should I use what I have or go out and get some synthetic? Thanks for advice in advance.

I'd say use what you have and then get the synthetic.  I used Mobil1 75w-90 at every oil change.  Overkill yes, but that's what I did.

I use Redline 75w90 synthetic GL5+ gear oil.  I also agree with Jim, should be fine to use what you have (as long as it is the correct weight).

Mobil1 also keeps pink elephants away.  Never saw any while using that brand.

I used Mobil1 75w-90 at every oil change.
I did this from the first change (at 3k mi) onward.

Every time the rear wheel is off, the entire driveline is serviced. Including cleaning, inspecting and re-lubing the drive shaft and U-joint splines.

Do not spin the wheel when refilling. It can cause overfilling.
