Tire Changing
« on: June 30, 2011, 08:52:27 AM »
OK so my new-to-me 2008 has 8,000 miles with what I would assume to be the stock rear tire…needless to say it is going to be getting changed soon. I have changed all my own tires before, but never with the shaft drive. Anyone on here change their own? Also is it safe to lift the bike with a generic floor lift or do I need to get something special? Did not know if I have to remove all the plastic or if it was safe to lift with pressure on the pipes etc.

Does anyone have a how-to remove rear tire?

Thanks

Use the center stand and all you have to do is pull the rear caliper and the axle.  This is the easiest bike that I have ever pulled the rear wheel off of.  10 minutes tops.
Keeping the economy going, one tank of fuel and two tires at a time.

piece of cake, although I'd have to say it's the 2nd easiest I've done, my speedy was easiest, remove 1 nut, then remove wheel.  8)

Likewise.  I plan on having my wife change the tire next time just to show how easy it is.  Grab a tube of Honda Moly to spread on the splines when you put the wheel back on.

Then you know not to get it on you.  Pick up some acid brushes and brush it on.

Wow, if I suggested this to my wife she'd bust out laughing! Then if I told her that I was serious, I'd get The Look.    ::)

Her brother, mother, and father for that matter all all useless.  I've got years of training into this one.  ;)

I just now asked my wife if she knew about "Molly lube", she said she doesn't even know who Molly is...

I'm surprised that she didn't ask you who Molly is and why you need to lube her up!
