I get lots of inquiries about the many trunk/backrest/rack options available for the Concours. Very often I can't adequately answer them due to my limited experience, so how about an "album" of photos showing unique combinations, with a brief description of the different brands so newcomers can see actual products, as fitted, they might be considering? A straight side shot would help to see how much room is available for a passenger, Ideally with two people on the bike.
One photo, If it's of a unique combination will be enough. If the replies are kept strictly applicable to the subject description the more helpful this will become. At a glance they will be able to see actual products on real bikes.

GIVI 55 with backrest and Corbin backrest.

I am using the Givi E55 with a few mods. I have fitted a Custom World Backrest custom fitted to Phils rack. I also have Phils rails which allow the rack to be moved backwarss, which allows room for the backrest. there was a small amount of grinding on the Custom World plate but nothing difficult. I also have the Admore light kit in the E55.

08 with CooCase Astra S48 from Twisted Throttle using CooCase baseplate mounted to a Phil's rack. I farkled the trunk lighting by removing the oem leds and replacing them with a coiled flexible led array.

This is interesting - It would never have occurred to me to salvage a trunk from an 30 year old Suzuki and then modifying it to fit my C14, but this looks really good. How much work was involved?

Mine is the Bestem T-Box top from Amazon. I attached the mounting plate to the bike by making using two 1" strips of aluminum in place of the stock rack and drilled holes where appropriate. Its a little tight for a passenger in its current config (short rides OK, no way in hell for a long trip), I really need to buy a good rack but I've been dragging my feet.

No backrest because she won't ride on this bike, but if she did her jackets CE backpad should be enough padding.

I removed the rack and drilled 4 holes in the bottom of the box to bolt directly on the rails.
Took about 20 minutes.
Painting it to match the C14 took a few hours.

Mike, you inspired me.
I happen to have an old "radio box" off a KZ1000P I sold a while back. I got up in the attic to dig it out. This evening I cleaned it, rough sanded, and taped it off. This weekend I plan to prime and spray to as close a blue as I can get to Neptune. I looked around for the closest colors I could find, and ended up with a Navy AND a deep metallic blue that I think I can make close with a layer or two.
I've taken an autobody class (just enough to sand holes through sheet metal) and even painted a few cars, so I think I can make this look okay. And if I don't, I'm out a few bucks in paint. I am also going to rig this so I can take it off fairly easily, so if it isn't terribly elegant, I don't have to sweat being the ugly girl at the party. Just the ugly girl on the way to the party 8)
I have an expandable soft tour bag that can ride on the seat, and then of course the side cases. On longer rides I tend to be packed pretty tight, but my goal with the radio box for the perfect place to carry a soft sided cooler for drinks and such. Once it is done, if it looks good, I'll post a pic or two. If it looks like crap, this post will disappear quietly.

Homemade rack ½" Ally plate.
NonFango 852 box with NonFango mount bolted to the homemade rack.
I made the rack to sit a fair bit farther back due to the space requirements of myself and Ella.
Has been solid as a rock for 45,000 miles of use & abuse.
I have a backpad but Ella doesn't like it as it sits too high up for her.

I keep offering to put a backrest but Teressa says her jacket against the E55 GIVI is perfect and won' even let me. But note in the pic the GIVI E55 bracket mounted to my subframe allows me to carry TONS of weight back there, with room for Teressa to sit up against me or back against the GIVI

Not trying to take this too far off-topic, so will keep it short. As stated above, took the radio box off a KZ1000P, sanded, taped, and primed. You can see - it is kind of square.
In photo two you can see that even the Navy was not near dark enough, and unfortunately, this was the darkest blue I could find. So I resanded and then went with the hammered black as my alternative. Paint turned out okay, but in no way matched the lines of the bike, so I added diagonal reflective tape and an oval reflector. Mounted like Mike, 4 holes with the m6 - 28 x 30mm bolt with philips head and spacers to between the box and the rails. It is very solid, but not terribly elegant. I won't keep it on all the time, but for long trips is will help. AND it cost a total of $28 for paint, bolts, and tape.

This is the only pic that I have of this right now, it is Krauser K5 top box with a Krauser C14 specific rack. I had it on my Sprint with a SW Motech rack, just ordered the Krauser rack for the C14 that replaces the stock rack insert.

Just a reminder that a securely mounted trunk can serve as bike and rider protection also.

I've got my old Givi E45 I had on my C10, Mounted on Phil's rack. With all the other stuff to buy, I can't bring myself to upgrade the box. Use it everyday for the commute so it works...just not the best looking.
