Title: Three Sisters
Post by: Rhino on March 16, 2015, 07:58:25 AM
Rode from Austin out to Medina, Leakey and the Three Sisters this Saturday. I've rode all those roads before but this is the first time I did the entire 3 sisters roads, highways 335, 336 and 337 all in one day. A fun ride in perfect 70 degree weather. Saw a couple of C14's and finally stopped at the Lone Star Motorcycle Museum. What a fantastic collection this guy has.

Love those roads and do them several times a year. Best mid-week when there are less HD's on the road.

Funny thing, all kinds of HD's at the "Wild Hog Explosion" in Medina and at the Hog Pen BBQ place, but out on the sisters, not so much. I hardly had to pass any.  8)

Seems like every time that I go, I come across several groups of 10-20 hogs in a row. It never fails either; they're always on some of the twistiest parts.

Did you have a Aussie Pie at the museum?  Decent for lunch... I have one of them there, or head out to Mac @ Ernie's for a cabrito burger.... YUM!!!!

Had boudin sausage at the Hog Pen. First time for that particular type of sausage. Not crazy about it.

Yeah... boudin is an acquired taste, and you have to know who is making it... kinda like chorizo.

You'll catch him riding the Black Knight every once in a while... it's a head turner.   :)

I have that one, too.

Steve, just what would you have thought if the title had been something like "Riding The Three Twisted Sisters"?

I kind of like the title, "Riding The Three Twisted Sisters on a 'Naked' Connie"...

When I rode the 3 sisters last spring I was disappointed in the quality of the pavement.  I understand that these may be the best of the Hill Country, but they fail to compare to other roads I have ridden.

Been there, done that,  didn't buy the T-shirt.

The roads have been steadily degrading... only remember them repaving one of them once, and it was a nightmare!  They had turned FM337 on the way out of Leaky into a mud pit... we were at the Lonestar Museum... a guy on a Duc rode up, covered in mud, dumped it on the way out... so sad!
