Cleveland Rocker Michael Stanley passes
« on: March 09, 2021, 01:03:11 PM »
Michael Stanley was a Cleveland born rocker that was very popular here in the late 70's to mid-80's. His band was a regional success that just could not quite make the big time, many blame his manager at the time, although I saw him on American Bandstand and the Merv Griffin Show of all places. His breakout album was "Heartland" from 1983, and his songs featured lyrics celebrating the Midwest and working class people, similar to Springsteen and Mellencamp but without the politics. He set attendance records here that have not been broken in 40 years and probably won't be. He battled cancer and heart problems the last 20 years.
