I did decide to sacrifice my right fairing pocket for the controller/ballast/module after looking around under the fairing for places to attach it all.
Rick.
I have the same set up, if you go under the left pocket and, you can use the stud that holds the left side reflector on, that's what I did to mount the ballast.

Cheers

Grrrrrrr!  Mine still haven't come in.  REALLY wanted to mount them up this weekend.   :'(

Just a follow up on cheap HID lights for those who want info - Last night I left my bike out for some reason.  This morning it was cold enough I had to scrape frost off the seat.  My headlight had the initial flash but wouldn't stay on only about a second.  I rode to work just using my driving lights.  The sun came out and at lunch time it would fire off again. Food for thought for the minnesotans etc amongst us.  Mine is VVME 50w 4300K car kit with one side removed out of the harness.  I have ran it since March 2011.

Mine does this sorta regularly. I am informed that it may be a ground connection. Did you try turning the bike off and the restart it? If not give that a try next time, but turn it off with the key as that resets the circuit. If you just use the handlebar switch it won't work.

Follow up:  I had to replace the bulb today as sometime last week it exploded?  I don't think I got rainwater in it, as I still have the seal on the back.  Still running original ballast.  My kit was a 55w bi-xenon VVME car kit with one side removed.

Tim - I did the restart thing and it worked.  And I cleaned my grounds.
