Title: 2014 Indian
Post by: CADMAN97 on August 11, 2013, 04:35:10 PM
Just wondering what everyone thought of the new 2014 Indians?

I think Polaris did a great job with these new 2014 Indian cruisers. Im not a cruiser guy, but if i were to become one, Id have to give a pretty serious look at the new Indians.

Ok let the opinions pour in...

I think the Chieftan could grow on me. Might do all right if they keep the blind guy who designed this in a cage.......

I like the looks of the new Indians, but I will say after sitting on one, they are not built for tall guys.  I am 6'4" and felt extremely cramped.

I am actually looking at replacing my Yamaha Venture with the Vision.  Some good points for me are that it is huge and fits my frame perfectly in stock form.  It has plenty of power (not just at the low end either like a Harley).  It seems to just keep pulling all the way through and feels pretty stable even at speeds well over 100.  Handling is great for a huge touring bike.  And they are surprisingly quiet unlike a Harley.  Now I won't say the Vision isn't ugly, but the ride is incredible and not as bad as I ever would have thought.  And with standard amenities like cruise, abs,  electronically adjustable shield, separate heated passenger and rider seats, and heated grips, it offers quite a bit in stock form.

From every thing I have read the Vision is a very capable machine. Just can't get past the 'vision'.

My mom said that if you can't say anything nice...

On the plus side, Polaris makes some fantastic sleds!

Due to the shape of the bags on the Vision the useable space is quite limited.
I got to look over a first run model at the Iron Butt a few years ago. A Polaris Engineer was entered. We had quite a nice chat. I hope they took his suggestion of at least enlarging the opening.

I will agree that they have done well in the design but pictured below is what I think of when I think Indian Motorcycle. I think they should build a modern version of this. Otherwise it's just another V-Twin in an overcrowded V-Twin market IMO.
