Vista Cruise
« on: September 04, 2011, 04:21:49 PM »
Finally got my Vista Cruise installed. It works just as good as my $180.00 Breakaway did on my Valkyrie. Hardest part was building a stop to keep the lock assy from moving. Took the bike out and she hold steady at all speeds. Well worth the 20 bucks.

Looks good!
I also use the Vista Cruise.
Only problem I've ever had is: after a period of time the stop (that locks it place) will wear...

I installed mine so that the thumb bar is located at the top. Most mount theirs like you did...
Either location works fine.

Ride safe, Ted

I guess you are the man I need to thank for the idea.  It was your link that guided me in that direction for the install. Thanks for posting that by the way :goodpost:

I like the way you did that install. The problem was my grips would not allow me to install mine that way.

I've been using the Yamaha version of the Vista Cruise on C-10s since 1990.  Prior to that I was using them on the UJMs that they were originally designed for.  My first C-10 install I did the screw into the bottom of the switch housing to keep the Vista Cruise from rotating.  But I found I constantly had to keep re-tightening the screw.  I hand sanded the plastic throttle grip to provide a smooth surface for the Vista Cruise to grip.

On all subsequent C-10s I've used RTV Silcone adhesive to bond the Vista Cruise to the side of the switch housing.  The only drawback to this method is you have to wait 12 hours for the RTV Silicone to cure so you can ride your motor.  I had the plastic throttle grip on my second C-10 turned at a machine shop to provide a more uniform smooth surface for the Vista Cruise to grip than I achieved by handing sanding the first time.  I've moved that throttle grip with the Vista Cruise to my subsequent C-10.

One of the nicest things about the Vista Cruise is it looks like an OEM part of the C-10 when installed correctly.  I used to go to rallies with my first C-10 and have other members asking how come their C-10 did not come with a throttle lock.
