I have had a slow oil leak that drips from around the propeller shaft boot -wetting the top of the side stand, keeping the boot clamp tight (it loosens itself) seems to keep it to very little.
Today I have the final drive off, and notice a thimble or so of hypoid oil drip out when it came apart. The grease on the splines was barely there from being wet.
The hypiod gear level was a bit low.
My question# 1 is- do the 2 (92055) coupling o-rings solve the leak, or might the oil seal on the input shaft to the pig (92049 B) be the culprit? ... . No other leaks- besides top of propeller shaft.
I also note the input shaft coupler gear (42034)is tired with rolled off teeth, all on the same direction, while the coupling (42034A) looks ok.
I plan to order a 42034 coupler gear/ 42034A coupling , nut, spring, and various orings .
My question #2 is- I note there are a ton of shims available to order. Are the rounded off teeth/leak suggesting spacing issues that need addressing?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks for your input in advance.

Best thing to do is clean off the area, then look for the leak. Or get some "engine oil" dye and shine a UV light on the area to point out the leak.

Another way to check: Clean area good and dust baby power. Then look for the source.

Hey- thanks for the thoughts.
It appears to be weeping from 2 holes between the nut and the teeth on the 42034 coupler cog- sticking out of the pig-, then collecting in the propeller tunnel... The fiche doesnt seem too helpful as to which seal or o-ring might have failed. The local shop suggested there might not be enough shims or a weak spring involved????
I am riding a road trip this next week, so will take it apart the weekend after my 'guesstimated as necessary' parts arrive. It is a pig in a poke...[grin]

10 to 1 it's the oring that seals the coupler. It's at the back of the input gear spline. it gets pinched when the rear wheel is removed / replaced. Steve

The 2 o rings did the trick. Thanks.
Will post pics/more after I replace the spent 42034 gear.
