My shield on my FF helmet is fogging up terribly in the cool mornings. Is FogX safe to use on it? It does state on the packaging that it for glass so I'm a bit hesitant to use it. Thanks

Pin-lock system.......

Pin-lock system.......
I'll second that. It's the only thing that really works for a long time.

Where is it THAT cool already?

Fog city, pinlock or permanent. Needed about 10 months out of the year here in the PNW!

A drop or two of dish soap applied to the inside of the faceshield will work, but will need to be re-applied regularly every few days. Apply w/ fingers, buff w/ microfiber towel.

Yes that does actually work pretty well.

Saliva, yea I know. Just chew some cinnamon gum before you spit and polish.
And it is easy to transport and apply, anytime.
Ride safe all, and ATGATT please.

My Rx glasses tend to fog up worse than my helmet shield. Does anybody know if any of those products are safe and effective to use on eye glasses?

Lemon Pledge

Can someone educate me on what a pin lock system is?

Plexus... dish soap... saliva... baby shampoo... tooth paste (make sure it is non-abrasive kind, no baking soda). All of these I've used in the past for snorkling, except Plexus.

I keep small bars of soap from motels. I rub the bar of soap on a clean microfiber cloth on one side only. lightly rub on the soap side then lightly polish on the no soap side. Wrap the bar of soap in the cloth on the soap side and keep in a small plastic bag. I use it every morning on a ride.

Lemon Pledge and if it's raining I crack my face shield open just a little.

I first used a Pro Grip Shield - I liked it and it worked well. I changed helmets and went to Fog City because it was all I could find on short notice and it just plain sucked. Tossed out the Fog City and the shield that it ruined and went back to the Pro Grip. It works just fine for defogging or, more specifically, not fogging, but its got a slight tint to it and between the two shields, optical clarity isn't the best. But it's better than nothing. Never tried the Pinlock and probably won't since the Pro-Grip works.

Here in Nebraska the morning temps have been in the Mid to High 30s already. Then it is like 80 in the afternoon.

My experience was the opposite. I didn't like the Pro-Grip - the adhesive came undone allowing fog to occur between the Pro-Grip shield and the helmet shield. (And when it's between the two, you can't just wipe it off) The Fog City shields I've used have worked great.

Another fog remedy may be to come ride with us in FL. Clear and warm last night ;D

Come January I'll be wishing I was there but in the mean time, it's sooooooo flat. And do they put any bends in the roads? ;D

We have some of the best Motorcycle turns in the country in FL:
Daytona International Speedway
Homestead-Miami International
Jennings GP (my favorite)
Morrosso
I usually spend the hot summers in the mountains of western NC, this year i took a month out and roamed the country. Not a fan of FL in the summer! But its getting niiiiiiiiiice ;D

Fog City had the clear adhesive and the Pro-Grip had the black rubber, right?

Yep. I liked the Pro-Grip at first, but after only a couple of months, the adhesive was starting to let go. My current Fog City has been on my shield since last season and is holding up well.

I'm glad to hear that, as I could not find a pinlock shield that was compatible with my visor at Cycle Gear but they did have a Fog City. I installed it over the weekend but I haven't had a chance to test it out yet.
If it trashes my visor oh well because I have several clear visors for that helmet anyway.

I even googled the company - their website says everything except where to buy it. I would give it a shot.

I second the pinlock system. Ordered a HJC CL-16 helmet that came with the pinlock. Today it was 51 and misty (at my new home state of PA). I could not get the visor to fog up. I too found that using Dawn would help some, but not like this! ;)

Okay I went to Cycle Gear a couple weeks ago to get a pinlock insert for my helmet but they had none compatible, so I got a Fog City.
It does as advertised, it did not fog up. BUT, night vision kind of sucked due to reflections and refractions, and it just didn't look clear anymore. They even had a warning to not use it at night. Duh, that's when I need it the most! I don't need it during the daytime! Even daytime vision was annoying although it is adequate.
I slapped my other clear visor on this morning. I wouldn't get another one but I'll save the Fog City visor for really, really cold days where fog is a real problem. Barring a better anti fog solution for which I am still searching.
