Not stop action.  I was annoyed by the overuse of the term "EFF OH BEE" ................................. we say "FOB".  Very entertaining film none the less.

I could watch this one again. The military ops were much more realistic than "War of The Worlds"
.

Quote
Jonathan Liebesman intended the film to be a realistic depiction of an alien invasion in the style of a war film, taking inspiration from the films Black Hawk Down, Saving Private Ryan, and United 93 for his documentary style of filming.[7][8][9] Liebesman also drew inspiration from YouTube videos of Marines fighting in Fallujah for the look of the film.[10][11] As a result the film was not shot in 3D as the director felt that combined with the handheld camera style of shooting would make the audience "throw up in two minutes."[8] Instead standard film was used, intercutting footage from three different cameras.[7] The filmmakers tested shooting the film digitally on a Red camera, but found the camera could not capture the same quality image as standard film.[7] The film was shot for a PG-13 rating, as the director felt making the film overly gory did not suit the more suspenseful tone they were trying to achieve.[7] Screenwriter Chris Bertolini tried to include humour and suspense as well as action, which he felt were important elements to help draw the audience into the drama.[7]

<snip>

There was military support for filming, including some scenes filmed at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton in California. Numerous Marine units assisted in filming, including infantry from 2nd Battalion 1st Marines, MV-22 Ospreys from VMMT-204 (based at Marine Corps Air Station New River in North Carolina), CH-46 Sea Knights from HMM-268 and HMM-774 (based in Camp Pendleton and Naval Station Norfolk, respectively), and reservists from 3rd Battalion 23rd Marines based in Belle Chasse, Louisiana.[18]

I liked the movie. I try to not pay attention to what the critics say. They have a different job than mine. My job is to go get lost in the pic and enjoy it for what it is. There are too many times that I listened to them and then when I rent the video and I wished I had seen it in the theater. According to the Wiki above they said that RottenTomatos only gave it a 35% rating. Just goes to show.

I've gone the opposite way with critics and watched a movie they liked and literally hated it and wished I had never spent the money to see it.  Now I pay for dollar movies at a Blockbuster Kiosk and if I hate it, not much is lost in the transaction.  I very rarely go to see movies in the theaters anymore.  Battle for LA was one I did want to see at the theater but never got around to it.  It didn't stay out long from what I can recall.  It was on my list to watch on DVD, though.

Redbox FTW. It's hard to criticize a movie when you only paid a dollar to see it.

I have not done red box yet, as I have to spend gas money and time to get there, seeing as all I have to do is press the "buy" button on direct Tv, @4.95, it's worth it for the all day ticket, especially if you have the recorder set up....
It should be on for at least 2 more weeks.....tune it in.

My wife does NetFlix, which for around $10 a month we can have 2 movies at a time.  She just places a movie in the queue and we have it delivered in a couple days.  When we are done, we just drop the watched movie in the mail and another movie shows up in a day or two, no gas wasted.

I used to do them for DVDs but the delivery here has been haphazard at times.  I just cut that off and now I only have the streaming but I'm thinking about getting rid of that as well.  We have the Blockbuster kiosks all over the place here and since I don't rent 9 movies a month it doesn't make sense to me to keep it.

I think I will watch it again with the volume cranked on my home stereo, since my wife always gives me a dirty look when I start knocking pictures off the wall.

My wife would rather just take the more "sensible" route and tell me to turn in waaaaaay down.

Yeah, my wife doesn't like me to turn anything up. If I ever watch an action flick when she is gone then I might turn it up. Unfortunately she is usually there  ;)

That's what my wife says too. I tell her that I didn't buy two subwoofers along with all those other speakers and all that equipment with all them watts to turn it down.  :o

My company supplies all the LCD displays for those BB kiosks Jim, you're welcome...  ;)

The Red Box is all I ever see here. I don't think I have ever seen a Blockbuster unit. There is a store near us. We stopped going there because the cost was so freaking high. Red Box ended up being much better except of course you don't have a large selection like the store does.

BB launched the kiosks not long ago to compete with the RB kiosks, there are more on the east coast than the west right now but they are working their way west...

Oh, and as for the movie, haven't seen it yet but want to now, thanks for the tip!
