Is this a good deal on a left-over '09?
« on: April 11, 2012, 03:45:36 PM »
There's a dealer in NNJ, selling a left-over 2009 for 10,999. Think I can talk them down from that, or is that about as good as it gets?

I paid 10,000 for my leftover 09 abs in Dec 2010. I think you have room to talk them down a good bit.

Would pass on the deal unless you have to have it and don't care about the price. Remember that you also have to pay taxes, registration fess, shipping, dealer prep, etc. adding another $1500+. My recollection is that I paid somewhere around $9,500 OTD for a left-over 09 in February 2011 - bike had a $2000 manufacturer's rebate.

A quick scan of CycleTrader.com shows prices for 09's ranging between $8,500-$14,299, with an average price of $10,094. The KBB trade-in value on an 09 is $6,580 - there are members on this site who have said they were offered less. Why pay $12K-$13k for a 4yr old bike that the market values at about $6,000 once you sign the dotted line?

I would look for a used bike that is already farkled-out

Yup, I paid $10,499 + tax back in 2010 for 2009.  So, the answer to your question is "NO"!

I would say that's too high.  You probably can get a 2010 for not much more than that.

If it has ABS offer them somewhere between $9,000-$9,500.  If they don't cave then they must want to keep it in the showroom as a conversation piece for another three years.
Keeping the economy going, one tank of fuel and two tires at a time.

Got mine end of July last year in NJ for $9500. I forget the dealerships name but it was just east of Philly about 20 miles. They sell a lot via Ebay. That is where I found mine.

Why pay for more for a 10+?  ???

I personally (maybe I'm alone) think the lines of the 08/09 bodywork is far better looking than the 10+, the front fairing on the 10+ to fix the heat problem (which IMO doesn't exist, at least here in the PNW ;) ) is kinda ugly and doesn't follow the lines of the tail, looks odd to me...

I mean, come on, look at the 08/09 lines, don't try to tell me these don't flow better...  8)

Plus the 10+ has linked brakes, which again IMO aren't the greatest to have...  :-\

You can probably get one for cheap...I heard they were giving the non-black c14 away for cheap!  No discount for black concours.  They are better built and has extra hp!  Seriously!   :o

I just purchased an  BLK.09 leftover O miles that i pick up this wk. end for 10,700.
The retail guide value is at 9980. which is the most a Bank will finance if they will consider it new. Most will not due to the yr.. I thought it to be a fair deal to purchase a brand new C 14 W/3 Yr. warranty and i was able to extend it to a total of 6 at an addl.cost.No dealer prep chgs. and sales tax goes on any bike here. I checked the cycletrader and didn't find any C 14 brand new at this cost or close.  So maybe not the greatest deal but at least i'll be the guy breaking my own bike in. The used ones in this area were priced close to this also. If it was Sept. i'd been doing some more hagglin, but right now the demand is up.

Probably Cycle World in Cherry Hill.  Steve WFL got his '10 there a couple trouble free years back.

Just thought i'd chime in here....

I bought my 09 ABS from a guy right here on this forum a year ago.
Bike had 320 miles on it, extended 3 yr. warranty and about 1K worth
of farkles already on it. My price 8K......so keep looking if this dealer
won't budge. Took me about 8 months lurking and looking but it paid
off, i believe i got a really good deal.
