Title: HOW TO attach key-ring to FOB?
Post by: MAXPWR on October 31, 2016, 12:55:48 PM
Is there a way to attach a key-ring to the FOB? Perhaps drilling a hole in one of the corners without ruining it?

Already has a slit to do just that. Look closely. Back side opposite end from the key.

The tip of my pen is pointing to it.

This if for a lanyard as opposed to a hard ring but I would think you could enlarge and work one in.

Zip tie solution- priceless!

Of course, it never would have occurred to me to want to put the active fob on a keyring :)

This type of cable tie works great.

Mine's on it's own ring, with a chain that attaches to my belt.

I just keep a house key with it... just in case. I agree it would be unwieldy with all of my normal key accoutrements.

You do know that that pic isn't actual size and that they do make different sizes of that type right of cable tie right? I have a bag of these and they fit in the slot just fine. I'll let them go for only $2 each.  ;)

Sometimes the green ones are in the Christmas decoration section of department stores selling garland, etc.

Hmmm..... we never had any of the tiny 4" ones with the screw tabs at work, ...  the greenies came in a jug-o-ties from H/F,  I bought long ago.

As for the hole -a-bob thing, that's for mounting the harness to a panelboard with a screw, we used the ones like in the picture by the thousands where I used to work.
Used to really pizzz me of when I designed a 36" x 48" panelboard that mounted a bazillion components, pwb's, transormers, relays, and stuff, and accounted for every possible mounting screw for all of them, including fastening the harnesses, with pre installed captive fasteners, (nuts, studs, standoffs etc) and the goobers assembling them would devaite from my assembly drawings and use peel and stick tie wrap mounts all over.... arggggg......
So much for the 800+ holes and pressed in fasteners...

Excellent! I could use some of those. But not sure how screw holes helps with the application of attaching a key ring to the FOB.

Don't be silly.... it is useful for when you want to screw your fob to the wall, of course!  :)

I got one of those leather key carriers that fold closed with the keys inside.
Has a pocket that the FOB fits in.
Has room for a Chg. Card if I want.
Once closed, fits in my pocket with all keys attached.

NOTE: I had a key made that fits my bags/gas tank so I never have to take the small key out of the FOB.

This is not exactly like mine, but gives you the general idea.

Oh silly me, and here I thought the hole on the end was perfect to go on the key ring. Once you call it a screw hole, of course there is no way you
could use it as a key ring hole.
Conrad, what are they going to do with the likes of us and our silly thought?

There you go Marty.  :finger_fing11:

I guess I'll have to remove my fob from the key ring. No way I can attach that thing to the ring knowing that I'm using a screwhole  ::)  (easy boys) to attach the damn thing.

That's why I love this forum. People a LOT smarter than me posting here. My problem was that since I put my FOB in my pocket bare ass naked and don't need no stinking keys, I couldn't imagine other ways of using that tie wrap.

Option to ponder.
Kevlar braided fishing line.  Loop locked.  Can't drop it.  Can't set it down.
