Maybe this'll make you feel better....

Last time I gassed up :    1.40 per litre  -  that's 1.75 in US$   When you convert that to US Gallons, it's $6.62.

That's normal here...

Enjoy your (mostly) sub $5 gas.   ;D

Jamie

I'm thinkin' that you have the exchange rate inverted. I came up with $1.07 US per liter using today's exchange rate of .77US = 1.00Cdn.

The Loonie has really taken a hit, no doubt. We will be up there the end of August taking advantage of the conversion rate and spending money as we go around the top of Superior in our Roadtrek.

Just checked Gasbuddy.com, the price for 87 in The Soo is 123, about the same in Thunder Bay and of course ten cents higher in White River, which is about normal for that town.

Rough math guess would be about 3.65-3.75 per gallon. Higher than the US, for sure, but that's pretty much always been the case.

For the first time in years, I've been paying less for diesel than gasoline in northern Mn.
$2.559 D2 (Mn bio blend).
Diesel has been the real money maker for the oil companies for several years.

I filled up the bike and the Jetta yesterday. $3.139 for 93 octane and $2.699 for D2.

Stop yer whining about high gas prices! We have it easy in the USA, I was just in Norway, gas is REALLY expensive there. It's around $10 a gallon. It cost $110 to put 3/4 of tank in my brother
-in-laws Audi.

Of course it's not just gas that is excruciatingly expensive there. A 4 liter (gallon) jug of premium synthetic oil is $120, and a new VW Golf Wagon (AWD loaded model) is $68,000!

I would imagine in Europe where fuel is expensive, they have quite a good system of public transportation. I would think that high fuel prices, narrow roads, and expensive cars would also encourage people to use those systems. Not saying its right or wrong or good or bad for us here in the U.S. but I would park my car in a second if I could use public transportation easily. BTW, $2.39/gal here in Cleveland, OH, but, it fluctuates as much as .60 cents at a time, mostly up, tomorrow, it will be $2.90/gal. I do appreciate our low fuel prices.

Yes, Norway is a country. It's beautiful there, and is consistently at the top of "happiest people" lists, despite their astronomical cost of living.

Nope.  Hy-Vee offers promotional discounts on many grocery items in the form of discounts on gas.  Usually one or two cents per gallon per item, sometimes as much as 25 cents on more pricey items.  They are redeemable on a gas purchase of up to 20 gal.  Recent grocery purchases there accumulated $1.75 per gal. in discounts, so when I filled the car, the net price was 88 cents a gal!  Hah, first time I'd paid less than a buck a gallon in more years than I care to mention!  Just had to get a pic of it...
