Tag light cover (2000 C10)
« on: June 26, 2011, 08:28:59 AM »
It's the black plastic cover over the tag light.

Yet another PO track. I can't figure out how he cut that cover when he bobbed the fender but somehow he did.

Take the tag light "off" and cut the wires......
Mount the plate on the tag bracket,,, by using the bottom holes on the plate.
Pushes the tag up close to the tail light.
Tail light will light the plate. Back of the bike will look cleaner.

Neat idea. I'd like to see a pic of that.

I'm not sure the MD state troopers would let that go. They're pretty picky - especially after bike week in OC.

I realize it might be an issue.
I removed mine 10 years ago. Plus we've removed them on approx 6 other Connies here....  Never had a problem.

If you need white light to make them happy, you can modify the bottom of the tail light lens by adding a small cear lens, or add the LED lights that mount in the corner of a license plate.

Like this:

About $20 from Cycle Gear.

Another thing to do would be like this:

It has LED's pointed down to light up the plate and is $35.

Yepp, either one of those would work.
On mine, the red light from the tail light illuminates the license plate.
I have never been stopped (for that), and when I was stopped (for a err discussion) the Officers never mentioned the license plate light.   ;D

I found that License Lamp cover in my storage.  It is not perfect, but it is pretty good.  I'll give it to you for the price of the Postage.  Email me:  road38  (at) yahoo (d0T) com

I used mine to mount a coupla switches, then attached it to the handlebar clamps on my KLR. Holes matched up good enough, for a KLR.

A little fancy for a KLR, though. ;)
