Title: 12 volt switched accessory power
Post by: Jeff96 on October 01, 2021, 12:00:37 PM
So I used one of the available fused accessory leads to power a usb port, but I was disappointed to see that the power is always on. The usb port does use a tiny bit of power that would slowly drain the battery on my previous bike.
I'm thinking the easiest way to have power turned off would be to have a relay powered by the tail light circuit to switch the accessory power on when running. Has anyone done this?

There's a switched power source on  pin 8 of the J-Box.

If I'm reading that right, pin 8 is a power feed for the headlight. Is it okay to draw power from that, or should I just use it to trigger the relay?

I see on your website that you run heated grips off of pin 8 so I'm sure a phone charger will be okay

You can also tap into one of the running light wires in the fairing which are switched as well.
