I think they are the same. Have you checked part numbers?

Yes VP, they are the same.

A ZX14 tank is also the same and you can find them for even less cost, that's what I used for both my green and red sets. The only difference with the ZX14 tank is you have to grind off the 2 tabs on the front top of the tank (seen in the below pic of the 2006 ZX14 tank I used for my green set) that get covered by the plastic piece on top of the C14 tank and all is well.

so any zzr1400 ( zx14) tank will fit my 2010 GTR, you have a pre 2010 gtr?

Any other handy tips in getting all this stuff bought? ive got some parts already but im guessing the pannier covers are going to be the big expense/hard to find???

i already know that the fairing is different on the 2010 but wondering if the nose cowl part is the same as the earlier bike?

My C14 is a 2009.

Yes, I know for sure that any ZZR1400 tank from 2006 to 2011 are the same. I'm not sure about the 2012+ ZZR1400 tanks as they did change a couple things.

The front fender is also the same from the GTR and ZZR1400.

All the tail sides and rear are the same for all the GTR's 08 to current.

All the pannier lids are the same for all the GTR's 08 to current, only difference is the 2010+ models they started painting that bottom trim on them, but you can also paint over that section on the 08/09 so you should be good with any model year.

That's all that comes to mind off the top of my head, if I think of anything else I'll let you know brother. :chugbeer:

Do you know if the 08/09 glove box on the front of the tank will fit the newer 10/13 models so that you could have both that center box and the side locking box in the 10/13 fairing?  It seemed odd to me that they would eliminate that feature and replace it with a "dummy" plastic cover - is something under it?

yes, there is stuff under that cover , whole bunch of relays, must be from where the new glove box sits, ive also thought about fitting the centre glove box to my 2010, im sure the relays could be moved

good question

they moved it because of all the complaints that a touring bike could not have a tank bag fitted, the plastic cover was the easiest way without redesigning the tang

Nice score on the panel sides, that's a smokin deal!  :chugbeer:

I'm not sure about the nose (the upper), I'd think they are different due to the mirror relocation on the 10+, but I'm not 100% sure...  :-\

I'm not sure about the mirrors either, i know the mirror bases are different but not sure about just the mirror itself...  :-\

Upper cowling (nose) for all years are identical, part number is 55028-0198 followed by the colour.

Mirror stems are different but the actual mirrors are the same for all years.

Both cowlings and mirror stems even bolt onto the same fairing mount.

So Rotorbike, are you saying I could buy new stems and raise the existing mirrors on my 08?

I think that there is more to it than that.  At least, that's what I recall and I don't think that topic survived in our current incarnation.  However, I'll do a bit of looking and see what I come up with.

Clyde (lt1) used to sell adapters that would raise the mirrors up.  You could try using PM or send an email through the forum.  He doesn't post that much here anymore but he may still have some risers left or he could at least tell you a few things about trying to use 10+ mirrors.

Then there's this thread..  http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=1832.msg20059#msg20059

And this one..  http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=5757.msg67335#msg67335

and this http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=13887.msg170648#msg170648

I would appreciate it, though, that if you want to pursue the mirror thingy further, that you start a new thread in the Accessory board.

I agree.  I don't think you can just change the gen 1 mirror "stems" (base/whatever) to gen2 to move the mirrors, but I can't remember why I think that.

I have a 2008 and a 2012 in the garage plus a spare 2012 mirror. If you can standby for a couple of days I'll fit it and see what it looks like for you all.

If anyone wants to swap tbe plastic cover from a 2010+ with the tank top box from an '08-'09, let me know. I have an '09 and would like to remove the storage box. If i remember correctly, you also need to swap the bracket from under the plastic cover.

I want to install a set off AST pullback risers and they won't work on bikes with the storage box.

Sorry for the delay.
