Title: Abrupt throttle response near idle in the twisties ...
Post by: joedeon on May 12, 2011, 04:21:24 PM: I've had my 2010 C-14 since December. Recently I have been noticing abrupt throttle response when I try to come on the gas smoothly after slowing to start a turn in tight hairpin-type turns. I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing wrong (like maybe letting the engine wind down too much) or if something is amiss with my bike. Even when I concentrate on smooth throttle inputs, the engine seems to surge to life a little too quickly.

Is this a problem with my bike, or do I need to do something differently?

Post by: MrPepsi on May 12, 2011, 04:31:10 PM: No, this is normal operation on newer vehicles that shut off fuel supply when you are not on the throttle. Its their attempt to save gas and reduce emitions. We all get it. You'll get better at compensating for it.

Post by: Son of Pappy on May 12, 2011, 05:00:19 PM: What Jim said, and to add (mind you NOT a flame), also the roll on/off/on plays an important part. Have you ever experimented with honest trail braking? Still some throttle input while using brakes? Helps maintain suspension set and healthy rpms during cornering, allows for a much smoother transition from apex, and on.

Try a lower gear, keep the rs up. Quicker shot off of apex/point of power.

Noticeable difference!
