If you think google is your friend then I've got a bridge for sale in Arizona you've just got to have.

Well, if it's a very nice bridge, we may have to talk.  I am looking for good investment.

VirginiaJim

I would definitely be there if I was in country.

Bought a tube of that lock graphite and put a little bit in the tank gas cap, and in the lock under the stove knob. Also took a little bit of Liquid Wrench (I forget which flavor) and spritzed it in the latch while depressing the tabs.

Here's the rub - I can buy ethanol-free gas in my area, but it's only 87 octane. Not enough for the Connie. It's expensive, but not any more than the 93 octane with the garbage ethanol in it.

I'm now examining octane-boosters (Gumout, Rislone, Sta-bil, etc.) to see if there are any issues going in that direction....

Hi,
I run premium name brand fuel (with Ethenol)

And every other tankful, I add some TECHRON!!!

Keeps it clean!!!

Stoopid is as stoopid does, or doesn't.  Went out for a nice country back road ride today, to a small town for lunch.  Oh, averaged 52+ MPG too.  After lunch, went to start the bike and all I got was "CLICK" and an empty screen.  Damn, dead battery, and no tools.  Got a guy who rode a Harley to help and remove the side covers, and try to jump start the bike.  Ran rough and the screen went crazy, showing every code and clicking on and off every couple seconds.   >:(

Finally got a friend to get one of his hired help to go by a dealer and get a new battery, and bring it and some tools to do the replacement.

Here's the stoopid.  I KNOW that the negative posts corrode, and the positive bolt comes loose, but since it has always started just fine, I told myself, ain't happening here.  Was I wrong...  Negative post was corroded, and the positive bolt wasn't even finger tight.  THAT HAMBURGER COST ME $113.00...  OK, I've learned, the hard way, that is, that when everyone says to check your battery connections regularly, those connections really need to be checked.   :P

Stoopidity, the low point of the day, 52+MPG the high point, and the burger and fries were actually good, too.   :D  tomp

A Harley owner, who was in his work truck.  Very helpful guy, who interrupted his lunch and work schedule to assist.   He didn't care what bike needed help, just jumped in to do what he could.  Actually, the way he got the allen and torx bolts out was pretty cool.

I know you were being funny, but how many folks are willing today to help another in distress?  Was there five hours and no one else even offered, except for the restaurant manager.   He gave me a large drink at NC...

Yes, that was very nice of him.

He's used to having to work on bikes.

Next time a valve inspection is needed on the Kawi, remember that Harley's use hydraulic lifters that never need adjusting, and those 8-9 hours spent checking shims, are spent riding, by HD owners.  ;D,  even if it is just to the bar and back (as that is what most think all Harley riders do with their bikes.) ::)
In all seriousness, I've owned six Harleys over the years, and the only time one needed anything, it was covered under warranty.  There isn't a model currently made that I would trade the C14 for, but MoCo does build quality machinery today.

A new battery brought back all my confidence in the Connie.  Best part about yesterday, it taught me patience, and to keep those four letter words at bay...tp

Lots of cool stuff, but I really like the Silver Swan, from 1773.
