Title: Camshafts reset!
Post by: jacksdad on March 27, 2021, 07:11:56 AM
My camchain tensioner failed, luckily it happened whilst I was trying to get the carbs set up, so as soon as I heard the death rattle I hit the kill switch!
For some reason I struggled to get the chain to sit back on the exhaust cam sprocket, but I've finally got it rebuilt: do the sprockets look correct? I think they are, but the marks look slightly low?  :-[

Have you watched Steve's video yet. It looks right but cant tell for sure without knowing where you crank is positioned.

If the tensioner lets go, it is rare that the camchain slips, but it does make an ungodly racket.
With the timing plate on 1-4 TDC, the cam markings should be exactly as in this image, WITH the tensioner fitted and correctly tensioned.

I'll check for that carb part for you tonight Mike :-)
