Someone had posted about putting this on their 2010 and I figured what the heck. I ordered one and it was shipped quickly. It's a nice piece. I had the thing on in a few minutes and took the bike out for a quick ride. What a difference!
It softens up the throttle response in the lower range of throttle openings so the bike isn't jerking around all the time. Take-off is much smoother and so are gear changes. I was very impressed and wished I had done this sooner--and on other bikes I owned.
Not to mention that it's in preparation to remove the flies and get me a new map! ;D

Lube your cables while you have it all apart.

Air compressor was definitely a time-saver. I had to run a small screwdriver underneath the grip a little bit to break up the glue, but eventually the grip came off.

Get you one of these, or similar, with a small tip.

Give the grip a blast from the outside edge while you pull on the grip with your other hand. If you work the nozzle around a bit you'll find that you can 'inflate' the grip and get it to slide around. Just keep working the nozzle around while you pull on the grip. Once you get the grip part way off move the nozzle around to the inside of the grip and keep it going till you get it pulled off.
Do the same thing in reverse to get a new grip on.

I had fought grip changes for many years till I got an air compressor a few years back. Now grip changes are a piece of cake. Like was mentioned, just run it around the edges and the grip will just come right off, like it was now too big for the bar or throttle.

If you have a garage, you need an upgright air compressor, even if you don't a set of impacts. Just having the freaking AIR is nice. I got a ton of impacts, Snap-On, Mac, etc. that I got cheap. Never even pull them out. Sometimes to yank rims, but that's about it.
I'm waiting for my noisly single stage compressor to die, so I can get a quiet 2 stage compressor. Buddy has one, you can talk over it.

So you can install one of these with the heated grips? Thought I read somewhere that you can't.

Good to know. One of my issues with the hand cramping/pinky numbness issues is that I am trying to control the switchy throttle, and end up putting a lot of pressure on my hand keeping it steady. I still have to adjust the slack out of the throttle cable, and if that does not help I'll get a tamer.

I put a tamer on my 09 the week I picked it up. Makes a huge difference in the jerkiness at low throttle openings. Would highly recommend it .

Well it seems to me that the throttle response might be smoother but that tiny brake lever would be hard to use in a quick stop. Of course since you could only ride to the end of yer air hose it might just work :P
Seriously, I am happy with my G2. Ifin you don't have one of them air pressers just use a soda straw and blow yer butt off

I know where one end of the straw goes, not sure where you are suggesting putting the other end... :o

Where ever you can get the most pressure. Depends I guess. Reusable straws not recommended.
