I have been looking for a set of lights for a while that did not require a dimmer and provided excellent visibility to catch the attention of oncoming vehicles. These were reasonable in price (apx 150.00 shipped with harness, 110.00 w/o harness. The harness was easy to install but I will be changing the connectors where the harness plugs into the lights out to a better waterproof style in the future. They are apx. 1040Lm and are not obnoxious to oncoming drivers at night. I really wanted the Clearwaters but could not swing the 500.00 price tag. There is a thread explaining them over on the ADV forum (http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=751838&page=19 (http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=751838&page=19)) so I will let you guys read all about them over there if you are interested. I mounted them with the supplied hardware to the reflector brackets and it is a perfect fit. Here are a few shots:

Nice! I will be taking a look at these, I have been holding off on these for too long. Do you have a link for the lights? Thanks, Jim

Cool pic bro! :chugbeer:
Would be even better if you swap out those dim yellow headlights with an HID kit from A&R... ;)
-
Thanks :) I have been looking for a while. I almost pulled the trigger on an A&R kit a couple months ago. I am going to ride like this and see how it effects other drivers. I think the contrast may help the aux lights as far as visibility. I tried changing out my City lights with Ebay Led's but they did not work out too well. The other concern is the HID modified headlights passing the VA State Inspection. It has not been a major issue to date but I have read things on the NHTSA site which lead me to believe it may be coming. I do not think they look too close to see if the Aux lights are SAE or DOT approved.

These are really nice lights. I put them on my C-10 this summer http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=9315.msg113100#msg113100 (http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=9315.msg113100#msg113100) and I'm going to order a set for my '09. He does sell out fast thou.

Very nice! I may have to have me a set of these.

Just checked out the site and they are out of stock.... :o
-
They are out of stock with the kit that includes a wiring harness. If you are fairly capable with electrical work I would use the money toward a fuse block and wire them yourself. They still have the lights by them self.

I almost bought those MM15's but he informed me of these new MM10's. I think both are nice sets of lights.
-
I like those allot....and HID headlights are overrated. ;)
-
I like those. Now that I am back to riding to work in the dark I need to add something to alert drivers that I am not a car very far away, which is what the dual side-by-side headlights can make people think.
I wonder how they would look mounted to my crash bars to make me look closer and wider to the oncoming and side street vehicles I come upon.
-
If I did a lot of night driving I would buy some brighter lights, mount them on the bars like you suggested, and install a Skeen dimmer. Then you could really light up the road when you want. There are also nice under mirror mounts out there for about 85.00.

depends on the inspection station you choose. If you utilize the dealership you purchased from, they will never pimp you out, but using "other" dealers has consequences at times. I have had issues with places in Richmond when I had to scavenge some wire from my driving lights, to do a roadside repair on my C10 generator haness. I never went back to replace it and went for the inspection....they wouldn't pass me because the lights on the vehical, even though "auxiliary". were not operational....azzwipes. I rolled the bike out into the lot, removed the lights, and they passed it..... had an issue once with a truck like that also, and the inspector made a big deal, I simply picked up a hammer he had on the workbench, and smacked each light, removing them from the vehical vigorously, and ripped the wires out and thru them all in his trashcan.....turned and said "get on with the f'n inspection. ::)
as far as the HID's go, they really do not know the difference, they simply check ON-HI-LOW and off. most inspectors have no clue what comes as standard on these bikes in the firstplace....
you'd be more wise to make sure you keep the factory muffler....that IS the next thing they will be hitting up. ;)

I just ordered those city lights from ebay today. What problems did you have with them and did you find another solution?

I have had mine in for about 4 months and no issues at all.

I bought these and they would not fit properly into the connectors. If I pushed them in 3/4 they would work but when fully seated they would go out. Maybe I just got the wrong ones but I bought from a link provided on the COG site. Can you provide a link to the ones you bought? I would like to try another set that works.

I did experience the same thing ... sent you a PM rather than go into all the details in this thread.

Just got my MM10's today. Need to install them and the A&R 6000k HID kit sitting in the box. I was going to use the front fender bolt to mount the lights, but it looks like the reflector bolt would be easier (no spacer). Is that mounting spot sturdy enought to support the lights? They are VERY well made lights.
-
I will more than likely also be ordering the MM10's as well. Let us know how the install goes and post up some pics when done. Thanks.

Reflector bracket is sturdy enough, I used two small washers to space the lights out 1/8 inch. You may decide that you do not want to. Looking forward to your pics.
-
I may grab a pair of those as well . Don't need the wiring as I'm ordering a fuse block from eastern beaver and try and do it myself
-
Do these help, with low beams cornering at night mounted low? Hate how the headlight beam can go almost vertical and can't see the corners. Thanks.

Looks like the MM10 light only are sold out

Finishing up the install of these today, once the mail comes and delivers the waterproof connectors I ordered. I mounted them to the front fender bolts, so we'll see if that works out. I like the install in the reflector mount also, so I may move it back there at some point. Here are some pics.

6000k?? No, everything will be BLUE when you are done ;)

For anyone considering these lights I suggest following this thread for info. These are still unavailable to the general public. BTW they performed great during my recent trip to the Blue Ridge. The new kits come with waterproof connectors so there should be no issues with the connectors.

Ok, got everything wrapped up finally. MM10's installed, 6000k HID's installed, fixed my stripped motor mount on the right side, changed the coolant and air filter.

Sure, this was the cheapest place (perfplusconnection). The instructions call for a special crimper, but I was able to work it using and insulated and uninsulated crimper.

Also, just so everyone knows, evidently the new MondoMotos MM10 kits come with waterproof connectors now. :-)
-
Thanks, ironically enough I believe I have that saved in my watch list.
-
did you have enough play in the harness to mount on the fender with no worries? Mine should be here tomorrow. Gonna install them and the HID's also next weekend I hope
-
although mine are on the reflector mounts there is only about a 5" difference. There should be plenty of wire. Worst case scenario you could extend the +/- wires about a foot but I do not think you will have any problems. I may move mine to the fenders when I change out the connectors, but they look and work good where they are so who knows.
Here is a good comparo:

Anyone have an electronic copy of the installation instructions for these MM10 lights? I will be getting mine in a day or so and want to plan the install. Thx.
-
They install fairly easily. Power to battery, switched power for relay, I used the acc lead. Ground to chasis. Light switch to relay. If you look at the link I posted for the ADV forum thread Toad provides a link to install instructions.

As I always keep them on I placed my switch inside the tanks glovebox. If I needed to have it readily available I would have purchased the mounting pas twisted throttle sells for the Denali's.

I do t blame you on that, I would do the same. Home Depot has spacers if you need them.

Yeah, either there or Lowes....think I will trace the outside edge of the switch, cut her out, clean up the edges, paint her black, add a spacer and go from there. Thanks.

lights look great!
Looks like you have some scalloping on that front tire..Or is it the light hitting it

It's the light.

Ordered the Mondo lights, and lights from Skene Designs. Going to mount the Mondo lights outboard on the canyon bars. The Skene Design photon blasters on the fenders and the P3 lights on the rear. I should be set for riding this winter. If they hit me they can't say it's because they didn't see me, it will be because they were out to get me.

I like that, but does the light beam bounce with the front wheel travel?
-

Not that I can tell...they are down low enough that you can't see the light pattern move. I also have HIDs that pretty much overpower the driving lights anyway.
-
I like that, but does the light beam bounce with the front wheel travel?
Only when he wheelies. :)
-
Another location about the same height would be the fairing mount that is just behind the wheel. I could see the wheel or fender blocking the light when turned.
I'm still curious to see if anyone notices the light beam bounce when mounted on the front wheel/fender/reflector mount.
