Two Brothers Black Series (Updated)
« on: May 19, 2011, 04:51:27 PM »
I received my exhaust today and got it installed. Install was very simple other than I had to drill the hangar bracket hole slightly larger because the stock bolt would not fit thru it. I didnt want it to be super loud so I bought the P1X insert as well. However, after hearing it, I am not sure I want to keep the insert in it. I am thinkinking that perhaps the P1 would have been better. What do you think?

This is the stock exhaust.

I run a P1X and like the more mellow sound. There's a P1 in the classifieds if you're looking.

I have a 2bro's CF pipe on the fz1 - would of left the areap had I had the means to make a proper midpipe.

When I first installed it, I thought it was too loud, and I would get headaches on long rides.  I ordered and installed the p1x tip, which muffled it considerably.  One day, on a whim, I pulled the tip out and rode the bike for several long trips that way.  Eventually, I thought it sounded better with the tip out, and it didn't bother me as much on long trips, esp when I have the medium height touring screen on (vs the full height vstream fall/spring screen).  I still have the p1x tip, but doubt i'll be using it any time soon.

I have a TB and coming from a cruiser and an FZ1 I was shocked at how quiet these pipes are. At idle I can barely hear anything. I really have to get on it for the pipe to open up. I couldn't imagine trying to silence the TB pipe.

I WILL be doing this at some point, without the quiet insert.  I had a Suzuki TL1000R before this, so loud exhaust is not an issue with me. I don't want it that loud though as I would never want to annoy the neighbors since I leave home early in the morning, so I would start the bike and roll out of the neighborhood as soon as I could.

Sounds good both ways though!

I showed the video's to my wife and she said:
You are NOT getting a new pipe for the new bike.

You have been there and done that, leave this one alone.

I have a p1x, it's too quiet.  I'd like to find a P1 cheap :)

Actually, I like it without any inserts, but on longer trips, at higher rpms, it gets loud.

Newbie! Never never never never show your wife/GF (or both) what you're planning on buying ahead of time. You're just setting yourself up for a lecture or worse. Just do it and apologize later. And probably she won't even know you have a new farkle on the bike if you can keep your mouth shut. "What? New? Nah, that's stock on this bike!"  ;D

Mike, I just ordered the repack kit for the can.  I easily have 20K miles on mine now, so we'll see if that quiets it down to where I like it.  If so, that p1x tip will be up for grabs.

No way would she NOT notice. She is good with noticing stuff like that and would catch it right away if I did it.
