Need a little help from my brother "Concourites"

I'd like to get an idea of how much lash or looseness other C-14's have compared to my own. If anyone would care to help I would be eternally grateful!

With your bike on the centerstand and in first gear (engine-off) how far can your rear wheel be rotated?

I find my bike has about 2" of rotation measured at the tire sidewall.

So it sounds like 2.something " is normal.
I have a bearing or gear going south and I'm trying to narrow it down, so far not much luck.

Two inches sounds kind of tight.  Actually most of the slack is in the transmission dog engagement slots, by design to allow shifting to occur.

Mine measures 6.374649 X 10^-18 lightyears, or 6.0325 X 10^ 8 Angstroms. 2 3/8" if you want it in non- physics, old money units.  That distance at the very edge of the wheel. By the way, my rear wheel will go all the way around even in first gear if I push hard enough....

Just curious but have you drained the final drive, looked for particles in the lube, and looked at the ring gear contact faces through the fill hole? Pretty easy to do and it should let you know the condition of the drive (overall) pretty quickly. Bearings, and especially gears usually spray fines of metal out as they fail, at least as they fail sufficiently to 'whine'.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner Brian, I had to re-normalize myself. But I'm feeling much better nooooooowww.
Yes as to the micron sized metal particles in my last engine oil change    The third member seems okey-dokey tho.
The noise I am hearing seems to be coming from the bevel cluster using a stethoscope, hopefully the bearing located in the rear/output of the bevel housing.
There are both ball/roller bearings as well as a needle bearing guiding the 2 very short shafts in the housing proper. I have felt the exquisite sensation of needles breaking in an old Jag, so I am reasonably sure that is what I felt recently with the Connie.
Y'all keep me in your prayers that this SNAFU is not inside the cases! (That damn motor is heavy)!

Could you specify the gear oil capacity in cubic parsecs?
