Rear brake light - simple connection
« on: April 05, 2012, 11:23:15 AM »
I have read all the posts for the rear leads to connect to the brake light however I have a simple question. I have a basic license plate brake light to add to the rear of the bike for more visual awareness when braking. The brake light accessory only has RED & BLACK wires and just want to make sure I connect them to the brake connection.  Note, this is not a strobe light just a LED

Thank you for your help.............  MATT.     :) :)

I only mounted a connector for the extra light on my topcase, so I can't help you.
But hopefully your question gets back up with my post, 'cause I think the elves missed it. This is not a difficult one and surely somebody will be able to help you. I just think it flew under the radar for most...

Try this....   http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=2505.msg28530#msg28530

Note that I found it using the search box.  Typed in 'brake light', deselected all the boards except C14 Accessory, and hit search.  Found it linked to another thread in the second hit.

Hopefully that gives you what you need.  Plenty of threads came up on that subject so if that doesn't fit the bill there are others.

From that post:

Bike      Function      Admore
Red      Tail light      Red and Blue
Blue      Brake      Purple
Black   Ground      Black

Green   Right turn      Green
Green   Left turn      Yellow

In further interpreting your post, it may be that you only need to know what the red/black wires on the accessory itself do.  If so, typically red is hot and black is ground.  Your accessory should have instructions, if not, you need to contact the manufacturer.  But if it was mine, I would assume the standard convention.

Hey Guys, thanks for your feedback...................I saw these posts that you reference but I was confused on the RED Tail light, BLUE Brake feeds. I know the BLACK is ground. I guess it would be safe to say that the RED lead on my accessory would be connected to BLUE on the bike for it to work when the Brakes are applied.

I feel like a nerd with this SIMPLE connection.                            MATT :o

Conrad,

Thanks for this information. It seems the BLUE will be my connection for my RED accessory lead and Black will go to the ground. Gotta love TEAM work. Have a nice holiday everyone.
