But I do like the pseudo security of having a locking glove box. My solution was to install a small nearly invisible latch that would allow me to open the box with 2 fingers with the bike off but still works normally when the bike is on.
First remove the box from the bike, remove the solenoid cover and the solenoid.
Drill an 1/8” hole in the plastic release lever right above where the solenoid touches the lever.
Drill an 1/8” hole in the plastic cover at the center bottom of the flat part. This should be right above the bottom of the lever when the cover is installed on the box.
Now take a piece of coat hanger wire about 2 ½” and bend a small jog at one end.
Insert the jog into the hole in the lever.
Re-install the solenoid
Re-install the cover while threading the wire through the hole. After the cover is install you will have about an 1 ½ “ of wire sticking through. Bend the wire in half on it self.
Now bend the wire down 90 degrees so that when you push the end it will push on the lever inside to allow the button to open the box.
Now re-install the box and using 2 fingers you can easily open the box.
Unless you know about this latch the box will appear to remain locked.
