Title: KTM goes west / trip report
Post by: stevewfl on April 03, 2014, 05:30:33 AM: I haven't posted much yet because this trip consists of hauling a bike in a cage. Weird for me. Let's get a trip report started.

Speaking of weird - Stayed in the beautiful Rocky Mountains last night. Woke up to this weird white stuff all over my bike in Durango!

No thank you sir, I lived in Europe and Chicago years back, I had my share of it too!

Post by: stevewfl on April 03, 2014, 10:25:58 PM: Hung around a KTM dealership this evening here in the Rockies. They showed me in detail how to mod a bike for winter (see pic) after I have it wired for my heated suit. I forgot my balleclava and they sold me one for 6 bux!

Anyway, weird encounters in the desert today after leaving the Rockies.

Spotted in a town with zero red lights (Blanding, UT), but one 4 way stop sign. A Tesla charging station wth?

I followed a camper falling apart in front of me

Then at Mesa Verda a saw this badazz camper, this couple says it does real off road stuff for long periods.

Post by: stevewfl on April 05, 2014, 11:45:38 AM: Arrived Moab ahead of my friends. Unloaded and couldn't stand looking at the KTM parked. So...... I got some directions and went up up up by myself (although I have a policy I dont go into the desert alone).

We'll see if that can work. I figure heading east from Malibu area on Easter or Monday.

He told me to say hi to you guys and that he is having a blast out there. He has been so busy having fun he hasn't had time to post. He promised to do so the first chance he gets.

Off roaded Mohave, Moab, Death Valley and ran upon a nudiest camp somewhere in the middle of the California desert. Teressa came out and in my truck we played in Las Vegas, Phoenix, Sedonna, Death Valley, Gold Field area of Nevada.

Next trip out we're off roading Baja, Mexico. We couldn't squeeze that in!

Yes sir - Indeed. While Teressa was out there a week I left my bike with John of Thumper Racing, just wow at the new suspension on the bike!!
