Searched and could not find the answer.
When filling the final drive is it done on the center stand with nothing under the front tire or sitting on the tires upright?
The shop manual is unclear about this.
Thanks

IIRC the bike is supposed to be on the center stand. I use the centerstand method and fill the final drive until I can feel fluid almost getting ready to come out of the hole. Just make sure you don't spin the wheel to get more fluid in, it will just spit it out onto your rear wheel on your next ride.

Why do I suspect you learned this via personal experience? ;D

Thanks for the reply.

I actually had it happen on my last bike (M109R). But I have seen several C14's that had it happen to them, and it was posted on the old forum.

I haven't found any appreciable difference one way or the other. I drain mine on the centerstand as well. I then moved the rear of the bike downward slowly until the wheel touched the ground. No more came out. As Jeremy states, don't overfill it. I typically leave about a 1/4 inch below the rim but that's just me.

do you need to change the o ring every time? ANy good sources?

28,000 miles, 5 changes and never changed the 0 ring and zero leak. That knocking you hear in the background is on wood.

I've done it twice as much without changing any gaskets or o-rings...no leaks. I subscribe to the Alfred E. Neuman philosophy.
