Title: Page Loading Speed Change?
Post by: CrashKLRtoConnie on May 26, 2011, 08:12:50 AM
I seem to be having a significant increase in page loading and uploading.

Just timed it a few times and loading seems to take near 15 seconds (average of 3 loads)

I have 6MB DSL connection and use Safari web browser on a one year old Apple iMAC with Intel i7 processor

Have you checked the speed of your connection?  I'm in a fringe area for DSL, and mine occasionally drops out.  When it does, it doesn't always reconnect at the full speed.  Unless the weather is lousy, turning my DSL modem off and on will usually restore a decent connection.

http://www.speedtest.net (http://www.speedtest.net) can give you a good idea of your actual speed.

Did the speed test . net ping download upload all look normal and good

Tested other pages and loading seems fine (CNN) Amazon walmart MSN google etc etc

Dumped the cache in safari and looking at other things to speed download up.

One other note is that the loading to post / preview this / other posts - reply also takes 10 + sec to load sec

Maybe something with Apple iMAC or Safari ... Or maybe I have just been a bad boy and being spanked by the internet gods  :)

consider using Firefox on the Mac...  Also, try holding the Control key down and click on a few messages you want to read.  This will load each message into a separate tab while you are selecting them.  A little bit of social engineering managing your expectations of what is loading.

Also, does your page load speeds seem to have changed for other websites too?

I use a MacBookPro and a Lenovo laptop with FF as a preferred browser.

The strange thing is only this site is loading slower on my apple iMAC with Safari. All other sites I visit have all loaded as fast as always. Will try a few things like firefox.

It's loading faster for me. XP and FireFox 4.
I'm on 10 meg cable too.

Yep.  I've noticed this too.  Other sites still load normally, this one is now taking a few seconds more than it did before.

Latest version of Firefox here.  I'm chalking this up to a server/traffic routing issue, not something on my end...

... optimize my 'research' time at work.

That's my story at the time of my performance review.
