Has anyone installed the upgraded 2010 oil pan on the 2008/2009 model yet?
My parts are on order and i just thought i'd ask if anyone had any tips?
Note: If you lower the C-14 a lot ( stock ZX-14 links ) you are vulnerable to speed bumps and irregular Canadian roadways. They will clean off the oil drain plug shielding cast into the pan, damage the plug, and sometimes loosen the plug itself. The updated pan moves the plug to a much less vulnerable location. This will prevent self loathing for going over these objects at such a high rate of speed. Lessons self schooled are seldom learned !

ICBM, eh? We've had a few looking at it but haven't got the results back yet of a successful fitment.
-
high rate of speed.
Do you mean a high speed, or a fast acceleration?
-
Fast enough to do the damage, slow enough not to launch myselfover the bars!!

If I'm not mistaken JhVenezuela was in the process of doing this, maybe it was a friend of his? Anyways, ask him about it.
-
This should be a straight swap. Post details and pics when you are done.

My friend had not installed the oil pan yet.
I'll be allert about this.
As i mentioned, the oil pan gasket has the same part number, i am almost sure
that we will not have problem with this.

Thanks guys. I work as a parts man at a Kawasaki Dealer so i have done the parts homework.
The swap requires removal of plastics, radiator and pipes. I just wondered if anyone had completed and/or run into any snags.

Last Weekend my friend installed the 2010 oil pan on his 2008 model.
No problem at all.
Lot of work, because had to remove a lot of parts.
The piece math perfect. I'll do as soon as i have any free time.

My current seems to work just fine.
-
mine to. but Kawasaki has relocate the oil plug.
Look these pics.
I don't want be the next.
-
I dont see how that can easily happen......but it did obviously happen. Overloaded and 2 up maybe, neither which I need to worry about.
-
I've just kissed the shroud, 2 up, mildly loaded when going over a casinos version of a speedbump. Learnt ma lesson, aint happened since.
-
I've done the same thing and it's easier to do than you think. There really isn't a lot of ground clearance there when you factor in the protective shroud around the drain plug.
JH, what else had to be replaced besides the pan and gasket? What did you have to remove in order to replace the pan?
-
beside the gasket, i ordered
swith oil pressure (Not necessary)
GASKET,DRIN PLUG (92065-097)
PLUG (92066-0064)
O-Ring (92055-077)
Plug 12x15 (92066-0079)
Clamp (92171-1185)
is better replace the o-ring and the clamp. the plug are the same, but because the delivery
time for me is too long, i prefered order the rest of the parts.

Again, Thanks! :goodpost:

Just an update, approx 8,000 kms since i did mine. No bottom rubs ( including a trip to the Dragon in Sept.) 2 oil changes, no issues , very happy. Fairly easy mod, 4 on my scale of 10 difficulty mostly due to all the parts removal req'd. Took the opportunity to Line-X coat (truck bed liner) the lower fairing so it matches my saddlebags, mirror panels, and rear of front fender. Looks good to me and my function over appearance mentality.
