Being a new owner, I'm searching for new front and rear tires. I'm in a quandary as too what brand and radial vs bias. If I stick to OEM front and rear ratios and sizing. It's difficult to match front and back with either radials or bias. Am I just being too picky??
Some direction plz.

You may be too picky. But there can be lots to be said about tires, much like oil!
Eitherway...Depending on what type if riding you do...For basic commuting and highway riding I am happy with rear shinko 777, front shinko 011 verge. They were each about 70-80 bucks. I haven't had any issues in the last 4K miles on them.

We need to know what model year, as the post 93 models had wider wheels to take advantage of radial sizes.

I own a 98 concours.
Thanks for the reply. My intention is mostly commuting highway miles with the hopeful 1-2 trips that may be 1000-2000 round trip.

Yes, you won't go wrong with this setup. Especially for the money. Good traction, good mileage, great value.

So bias in the rear and a radial in the front is ok to do?? I only ask because I'm not very familiar with these set ups.

It's a pretty common combination and haven't seen any issues.

I've tried every permutation of tires/combinations.
I've settled on a radial front with a bias rear.
The give me the best handling and longest life
at a price point I can live with.
I'm currently running a Bridgestone T-30 front
and a Shinko 777 rear. I get about 12K miles
out of set and about 10K before I begin to
feel performance tapering off.
In my book, that ain't bad.

Correct... The rear rim was always a 3.5" x 16" and the front went from 2.15" x 18" to a 3.00" x 18" to which the 110/80-18 as use on the early models will fit the latter model quite well; in my opinion better than the 120/70-18 ever did... I never liked the pointy profile the 120/70 gave when pinched on to the 3.00" rim...

+3 on the Shinko 011/777 combo. Probably the best bang for the buck out there, available in stock sizes. They are performing quite well on my daily rider 98.
