General Motors is becoming China Motors

Hey, it's your choice on your vehicle requirements, and I would not try to sway you one way or the other, just showing you the facts.
Plus, Ford didn't take a nickle of bailout money.

I know it's not exactly what you're asking about, that never stopped me before.   lol

I have a 2003 Chevy 2500HD Duramax/Allison. Bought it new and it's been a GREAT truck. I've never had a lick of trouble with it, nothing, zero, zilch, nada.

Please don't buy another one.  The one you bought was from an American company.

The next will be from a Commie company.  No thanks.

Make no mistake about it.  Obama Motors is a Commie Company.

GM paid the Gov't back right?
So did Chrysler, back in the early 80's after getting bailed out.
So, by that rational, Chrysler is also a Commie company?
What about all the Japanese car makers that take huge subsidies from their Gov't?
Just about every Italian car maker has been at one time or another owned or controlled by the Italian Gov't.
Same for the British makers back in the 70's and 80's.
China's lurking and is in the same position that Japan was in the early 70's here, look out in 10 years.
Not trying to start anything, I understand your point, my whole family and in-laws are involved with Ford, but I think that GM, with Chevy specifically is making some nice vehicles lately, the new Impala is nice.

GM is far from all American. Can you say Daewoo? That is what all the small engines are since they bought them out in 2000 or 2001. Korean!
On the truck side of it. You have a tough decision. Check all the warranties first off especially if you are buying new. They change coverage every year. I personally like the Ram 1500 Bighorn package with the dual exhaust shaped through the rear bumper. I have been beside one on the highway doing 140 mph. Connie speedo closer to 133 mph. But real fast. 2013 Ram is getting a new 6 cylinder that should get between 18mpg city and 28 or 29mpg highway. Not sure how much power. Ford has a 6 cylinder with Very impressive power claims and GMC/Chevy has a 4.8 liter that gets pretty good fuel economy.

I was a GM guy all the way, forever.
This last go around I switched to Ford due to politics. I don't regret it. My F150 is bardarse. 8)

i m not doing too much mileage, around 8k per year.

looking to tow some cargo camping trailer.; weigh around 4000 lbs.

I currently own a SUV and the last time i towed a trailer for a long distance, i went trough the brake disc and pads

I want something  comfy on the road. (advantage Chevy from what i ve heard)
I want something reliable. (dont know about this one but had bad expwerience with dodge products in the past)

Fuel economy is not a high priority since i do around 8-10k per year

Thx for any inputs

I can't speak for the new models but my 2006 Sierra SLT Ex-Cab 4x4 with the 5.3 V 8 is a great vehicle.  I think if you want to use it as a TRUCK and haul and tow at max capacity all the time, Ford may be a better TRUCK.  But as a daily driver, as a vehicle that does everything I want it to, the Sierra is great.  I don't tow anything even thought it has a heavy-duty integrated tow package, and I seldom take it off-highway even though it has the Z-71 haevy-duty suspension, G-80 locking rear diff, etc.  I use the old Toyota 4x4 for that stuff.  I bought it used when I went to trade in the piece-o'-crap Taco because it was the only thing they had on the lot and I wasn't going to drive that piece-o'crap Taco back home.  I get 17+ MPG around town and 20 or so on the highway.  It had 25,000 miles when I got it and now has 98,000+.  The only problem I've had other than the mice eating all the wiring under the fuse box has been one O2 sensor go bad.  The biggest drawback is the heated leather Barco-lounger captains chairs are soooooooo comfortable it's hard to keep from falling asleep in it at 70 MPH.

As far as being an "American" vehicle, well there's just no such thing anymore.  The Toyota Tacoma piece-o'-crap I bought in 2007 was made in America except for the Japanese transmission.  Current Tundras are made in the USA.  My 1984 Ford T-Bird was made in Canada.  The Sierra was assembled at the Fort Wayne plant, but every single part I can see has a bar code or cast-in lettering that says "Fabrique du Canada".  Kind of like our "Japanese" Connies were assembled in Lincoln, Nebraska.

www.gm-trucks.com is a great forum for these trucks, a lot like we are here.

my last pickup 2003 was a GMC HD Duramax and it was a great truck. I got to the point I did not want or need a diesel so I started looking for a good used or maybe new truck.
after seeing the video that was the second post in this thread I decided there would be no more GM products for me.
so now I have a 2012 that says this

I think the Sierra is a good truck and that you would like it. I thought mine was great at the time. but that was before it became gov motors and they bought into China. not for me......

The Duramax engine is an Isuzu design built in a joint venture between Gummint Motors and Isuzu.

Whatever you get the best deal on , being a business owner I own a few of each , they all have certain issues, most of mine are diesels .
I've had good luck with GM gas motors, even my 8.1 in a 7500.

Get a Ford truck.

Ford makes the F-150 in MEXICO every day. But i like the Fords better than the Chinese GMs or union Dodges.
