Traded in my Indian Scout 60 for a great deal on the new 2016 bike in the shop. So far I’m loving the bike, minus a few issues that can be fixed with the aftermarket (that wind noise!!)
So far I’ve added the police bars from MCenterprises for drop insurance, and I have plans to modify the rest of the bike to fit a police bike theme with some Star Wars flair(it works in my head).
The next project is finding a windshield to improve the ride quality and finish the break in period.
Welcome to the forum copbike!!! Congrats on your new purchase. See if this links you up with a windshield trial that's been going around for quite some time. http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=914.0
The break in period is kind of strange on the Concours compared to the Scout. The Scout was over in 500 miles and an oil change, the Concours requires a bit more.
As far as switching from a Cruiser to a sport touring, it was really more of a decision of switching from a small bike to a large bike for me. I prefer the upright position of the Concours. I’ve demoed larger bikes in both the Harley and Indian fleets, and found the same issue with rather dissappointing power delivery and sluggish handling.
The biggest difference is where the weight is. I nearly dropped the Concours on my first ride because I wasn’t ready for the sudden weight transfer when stopping on a hill.
Yeah, you have to be pretty selective and / or willing to do some mods to get any real performance out of a select few cruisers. That is the reason I own the ones I do. The Victory’s (RIP) are very receptive to performance upgrades. My Magnum is just shy of 120hp/120 torque with cams, intake, exhaust, PCV, and a good tune on the dyno. Handles really well for what it is, but nothing compared to the Concours!
