Stoopid is as stoopid does, or doesn't. Went out for a nice country back road ride today, to a small town for lunch. Oh, averaged 52+ MPG too. After lunch, went to start the bike and all I got was "CLICK" and an empty screen. Damn, dead battery, and no tools. Got a guy who rode a Harley to help and remove the side covers, and try to jump start the bike. Ran rough and the screen went crazy, showing every code and clicking on and off every couple seconds.
Finally got a friend to get one of his hired help to go by a dealer and get a new battery, and bring it and some tools to do the replacement.
Here's the stoopid. I KNOW that the negative posts corrode, and the positive bolt comes loose, but since it has always started just fine, I told myself, ain't happening here. Was I wrong... Negative post was corroded, and the positive bolt wasn't even finger tight. THAT HAMBURGER COST ME $113.00... OK, I've learned, the hard way, that is, that when everyone says to check your battery connections regularly, those connections really need to be checked.
Stoopidity, the low point of the day, 52+MPG the high point, and the burger and fries were actually good, too.
