Added a little color to the bike. Also have to give the pin striper that did it a plug. Anyone who rides on Long Island is familiar with Oak Beach parking lot. Well Tony has been doing pin striping right there in the parking lot for many many years. A good old school pin striper. He also does incredible airbrush work.

2009 with 85,500 miles

Brakes.
New EBC HH pucks front and rear.
Scrubbed the rotors with red Scotch-Brite pads and flushed the front brake system with fresh fluid.  :)

Rear fluid will get changed on next day off.   ;)

Used a pneumatic bleeder and all went well.
Only thing that had me second guessing was, after drawing fresh fluid through both calipers, the lever was pulling back to the grip.   ???
After pumping it a few times it became very (Easy Boys!) firm.    ;D

Fingertip presure is now all that's needed to begin slowing.   :D

Fine particles worn from the slave cylinder?  : )
Someone once posted an example way back when.
The clutch system is used a lot more and is also in direct contact with the engine and all of its heat, breaking down the fluid.
Just a thought.   : )

Brake Fluid absorbs water from the air like a sponge.
My guess is that water is the culprit. Maybe corrosion?

Yep, they are called 'fines' and are the product of cylinder wear (both master cylinder and slave cylinder). Brake systems do not suffer from this because they are essentially a non- moving system, it is merely force that is transmitted, not any appreciable movement (theoretically 0.004 inches of brake pad running clearance or less). But each time the clutch is used, the entire stroke (Boys!) of both the master and slave cylinders is used. The worn material (aluminum from the master cylinder, steel from the slave cylinder) goes into suspension in the clutch fluid and appears very dark ('cause it is metal, not because it is really dark in color).

This is the clutch slave cylinder from my C-14 at somewhere near 40K miles; note the wear pattern in the grinding pattern in the cylinder wall. The material that is missing (worn away) all went into the clutch fluid as 'fines'; microscopic particles of steel.

Installed new rear tire (8mm Tread depth when new).
Changed Engine and transmission oil to Kawasaki SR4 synthetic.
Changed Diff oil
Pull Calipers off and pads out and cleaned with hot soapy water.
Prep bike for 6 day ride in the Rockies.

Only 1 mm difference in the OEM pads (29750kms) and the new EBC pads. Little life left in them yet

Congrats on getting your bike bike Sgt Mac, enjoy.

So far so good. Some paint damage on the left case and right mirror. For some reason, they took the bags off and packed them separately at some point. The right one got wrapped up and packed well, the left one got tossed in a plastic tote bin, unwrapped. Either stupidity or don't give a  :censored: , not sure which, probably a bit of both.

I'll claim it but never get anything near what it will cost to repair, if anything at all.

So looking at my back tire this morning I notice a bit of goo on the rim.
I seem to recall reading a while back that we're supose to apply grease sparingly to the hub.  :-\ :-\

Installed the wedges today. Not a huge difference, but seems like it will be nice.
I wonder if the washers seated in the right spot. I'll recheck the torque soon.
