General new bike muffler question
« on: November 27, 2012, 10:51:41 AM »
What is the deal with the new goofy ginormous mufflers on new bikes these days. I think the new 250 Honda is a great looking bike, until my eyes hit the stupid muffler. I understand that they may contain catalytic converters but jeez, can they come up with a better design than the flaring cheerleader megaphone? Is it me or are the Japanese bike designers watching too many old episodes of Ultraman?

I haven't seen Ultraman in years!  There's something about him I just like!

The OEM engineers like to consult with Max before they finalize the exhaust design.  :D

I'm thinking they are in colusion with LEO, it is so easy to spot a stock exhaust vs after market.  No need to put down the coffee and donut to check for some EPA stamp, if it looks right, it's wrong. :o

I'll keep riding with Jay then cause we'll go flying by LEO he'll think "huh, those must come stock like that now." ;D Then he will look down at his own bike and ask himself why his bike is fitted with a potato launcher. :rotflmao:

Hmmm.

Ultra man's opponent is the splitting image of how I imagine someone on this forum looks and acts.

Lets see, his name is B _ _ _.

I didn't think anybody would know what I was talking about, surely nobody under 40! So, if you remember Ultra-Man, did you have Johnny-Socko too? So, I think that too many years of breathing through their eyes as children and combing their hair with strangled magpies have so affected Japanese muffler designers as to foist these abominations they call mufflers upon us. Wasn't there a recent Kawasaki with 4 of these beasts ala the CB750 rendering it somewhat like a refugee from a Rodan movie?

So today, I open my current issue of Rider magazine and what do I see? A Ninja1000 with the most hideous 4into2into4 Ultraman exhaust pipes. WTF?Are they in collusion with the aftermarket guys to ensure that everyone will yank those ugly F**Ks off the bike and spend $1000 for nicer more pleasing looking pipes even if the factory jobs are much better than any aftermarket pipe?
