Couple of things, if you wash your bike on a somewhat regular basis, you just use the same soap as you use on the bike, if you do this every time, then you don't have to resort to chemicals and drastic measures to try to get the brake dust and road grime of your wheels when you wash them once a year. Simply put, a little cleaning every week or so saves you tons of work down the road. As with anything, waxing will help you even more by preventing the majority of the dirt from sticking and making cleaning just that much easier and faster getting you back on the road quicker. But then again I view cleaning and washing as a sort of therapy, almost as good as riding.
