I recall that evening... I think I almost threw some guy into the creek because he said " I don/t need to be a member, I can just show up, and do what I want.. and nobody will notice..."

Man, I wish I could remember who he was, we were all about 3 sheets by that time...

Only thing I can add here is WHY DID IT TAKE SO LONG FOR RUSH TO GET IN THE RnRHoF???!!!

After over 20 years of putting it off, I finally 'discovered' Gov't Mule yesterday. Great progressive southern rock. Warren Haynes is a monster. I saw them at Mile High Music Fest in 2009, but really wasn't paying attention. A wind storm blew up and they had to stop for awhile because the stage almost fell over.

Funny you mention WH and the Mule.....
I wwas watching a concert last night right before I started this thread, been following that band since its infancy, prolly seen Mule, both the original, and the permutations since, about 20 times, at least a dozen times in Cleveland, and always at small hall venues, announced like 3 days prior to a show... everytime it was standing room only..

As far as why so long for Rush to make HOF?
Well, its a very odd crowd, and voting procedure, and could be construed as biased... because radio stations and rock commentators push for certain bands.. and stuff the ballot box so to speak.
I watch this, and have, since HOF was annouced as ""viable"....
A good example is, why are the induction ceremonies held in NYC?
Makes no sense to me... except for the $$$$$$
When you look back, annd see who was inducted when, you'll really question "why so long????"

Yes, it is shocking to see in print...
Real shocker... read this page....
http://www.futurerocklegends.com/eligibles.php

I find it kinda funny that the most often coined phrase, when some band comes out to play, is...... ""HELLO CLEVELAND......."  even when they aren't playing in Cleveland....

Check out all the options on the left sidebar, about who got snubbed, the vvoting, the nominating, etc...
And you will see how and why stuff is smelly when it comes to getting in...

I totally missed out on buying a piece of the stage, I was at the Blackfoot concert in the morning, and actually they played again that same night... awesome show, the place smelled of smoke, but they laid plywood on it for the night, because the show was a sellout... Duke and the Drvers opened for BF, the Drivers were soooooo outclassed by BF, they got boo'd off the stage on their 4th song...   got the iron ons for both of the concerts that day...

http://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2015/08/cleveland_agora_stage_that_hos.html

I can't find any of those iron on concert bills anywheres online... may have to donate some to HOF in trade for free admissions... not.

HOF is about money, money the hall will make by inducting popular bands and it is a popularity contest run by the board of directors, just look at the last few years inductees. But the way I see all HOF's, any HOF's, is that eventually, everyone will be in. I live in Cleveland, 10 miles away from the HOF, I've never been there and I'll never go there, just me that's all.

I'm kinda with you on those feelings... I'm 18 minutes east of it by bike from my door... and have issues walking into the place...
Wayyy back in time, before sin tax, new stadiums (multiples), and every other attempt at making Cleveland viable to visit, they collected money from people like me, and promised they would install a Brick Paver, with my name on it, for each donation of $35 or more... I bought 4 r "bricks", and was sent certificates stating donation number, date, and what would be on them...... then Cleveland went into "default".
A few years later, and much more garnered money from sources, and they began building the HOF... when it was done,  with certificates in hand, I went to the pre opening ceremoney... and was denied entry, even tho "brick buyers" were issued a certificate offering free entrance for the first year......unlimited...

Somehow they weaseled thru lawyers, and accounting, that all money collected prior to the defult, was never made available, thus.... no bricks, no names, no free entrance... nada.....

Oh, there are monogremmed pavers there.... but somehow the ones sold prior never made it in the walkway...  bastiches.
I do have a brick paver a pal and I chipped in for at Jacobs Field, I could never find it in 30+ trips there, but he said he saw it,  died and never got to show me where it was....

"All in all, were just another brick, in the wall...."
