Compact Nautilus Air Horn

Got a Compact Nautilus Air Horn from murphs kits, now I am wondering where to mount it. Does anyone know if it will fit under the front cowling somewhere ?

It should.  I was going to mount one in there, but found a better option for me anyway, sound wise....trouble is, I have to find a place to mount 4 horns now.
If I cant, Ill get another Stebel. 

When I had the left side pocket/plastic out, it seems to me there was a nice area in there to mount one.  Id imagine its the same on the other side. 

Oh, and while we are on the subject, sometimes Harbor Freight puts them on sale for $30.  Its called the Bad Boy there, but its the same horn.  I had one from Murphs and two now from HF, all exactly the same....except the HF has a pretty chrome cover on part of it.

Yeah, I need to upgrade mine. I had to use the horn a couple of days ago and was really disappointed in its performance. On my Nighthawk I installed some Fiamm Freeway Blasters and what a difference they made.

While we wait for PilotSailing to do his Nautilus-ectomy, I have a question.

Could you take a Fiamm Blaster horn and replace one original horn without changing wiring at all?
Could you take a Fiamm and replace one horn, but have to replace wiring?

Looks like a Fiamm horn could attach, as is, under the fairing front.

What say y'all?

Well, the web site says they draw 5 amps each, for 10 total.  No sense only using one, the dual tones are more of an attention getter than the single. 
Most sites though say they draw more than that, so you will want a relay in there.

Ive got to tear into mine soon, to see where I can shoehorn 4 horns in the fairing....not sure if they will all fit where I want, but it will be impressive once done!

Yeah, you want a relay with any of these horns. You also want to use the dual-tone setup. It is quite the attention getter. I will have to sit down sometime to figure out how to mount them.

I put one of these on that I bought from Murph's.  I knew the stock horns weren't cutting it when riding in formation with a cruiser, I saw his left saddlebag cover start flapping loose.  Then I tried pulling up next to him and honking to get him to pull over.  He didn't even hear me. 

Anyways, my Nautilus is installed in the triple tree.  Just with some heavy duty zip ties.  It works so much better than stock.

I bought the Harbor Freight "Bad Boy" horn - which is the same exact horn as this.


Just a tad too big to fit where the original horn was in my new Jeep. 


It came w/ a 30amp relay - which although the instructions say isn't required for the jeep... it blew the 10a fuse in nothing flat.  If I do end up putting it on the jeep, I'll use the relay.


In the meantime... if I find a good place to mount on the bike.....

Hey cross, isn't your speedo cable supposed to go inside the wire loop next to the brake line splitter?

I thought so too, but I read on the main COG forums that the little clip there was only for the brake lines.  I can't recall who posted it.  This way seems to have less binding going stop to stop on the steering.
