I figured since it did such a good job with carbs, I'd try it on some other "hard to clean" items around the house. Here's one it worked good on, but I noticed it sounded different while operating. I'll have to figure out why  :o ... Steve

That's looking very nice there. Way better to get rid of the EPA target chemicals around the workshop these days. The Days of Carb Cleaner baths are coming to an end. But I still see some version of the chemical for sale, Even Walmart carries a small gallon tin.
Have you gone to the Hot Water washer for cleaning larger Items? These are absolutely fantastic, and what a labor saver as opposed to cleaning by hand in a sink of stink.  ;)

Yes, I have a very large Jet - spray cabinet for doing engines and transmissions, tumblers, pressure washers, etc. Cleaning is and has always been a pita and very time consuming. The simple fact is that I catch tons of problems with the parts I'm cleaning during the cleaning processes, and for that alone diligent cleaning is a must.  Ultrasonic is really impressive - I had a smaller unit I used for years for fuel injectors, etc. It was so strong it would remove all the rust too. I learned to be careful with ultrasonic cleaning, parts are so clean they'll sieze or rust almost immediately upon removal from the tank unless addressed with some lubricant. Fortunately, cats are self-lubricating  :yikes: Steve

There's been a few guys who have taken the protective coating off of the Mikuni slides also, to much chemical in the Ultra. Ruins the slide quick. I haven't seen anyone go to get another coating on one though. They always opt for either a new one or good used.
Once you use these modern parts cleaners there is no going back to the Stone Age.

That's a good point, and why I've been experimenting with various cleaners, dilution, and temperature in the tank. I want the minimum nessessary. I learned a looong time ago about using the wrong or to much chemical for the job when I soaked a set of 396 heads in muriatic acid... that was an expensive but unforgetable lesson! steve

Years ago one of the youngsters took a Binks Spray Gun, and put it in the Chemical dip overnight on a wire. When he checked the next day, there was only the magnetic metal parts left. It ate all the alloy, he had the cost taken from his pay packet.

And the ones one the bike right now will be headed your way for another member.

Try setting a concrete block on the lid. It really helps keep the sound inside.

Got any "after" photos ?

I'm guessing it looks something like this........

for those who are feeling "concerned" about what you've seen here, I'd like to assure you that no carbs were hurt in the making of this thread.

Some of the new cleaners that were devolved to replace the old harmful solvents have a flash rust inhibitor built into them.
