Fender Ext & Rad Guard
« on: August 13, 2012, 08:42:26 PM »
So you guys all know I'm new to this. I'm looking at all the farkles and came across these. Do I need them both to protect the Rad? I just want to make sure that I'm buying functional stuff, and not a perceived notion that I need it. Have there been accounts of popping the rad and these items would have prevented that? I would have hoped that Kawi would have engineered the radiator to be positioned in a way that would prevent this. I also don't want to mess with the air flow into the rad. I need all the flow I can get in Arizona and don't want any overheating issues. Thanks guys.

Both items accomplish different things. Both are worth getting based on the price. You can even get a package deal on both. More importantly you need to start a farkle list and consult with your CFO on your max dollar allowable amount!  Just saying

I think stevewfl has a fob hanging down like a gremlin bell in front of his radiator and has had 1 million miles of trouble free riding.

I have the Cox rad guard without the fender extender. I think that it does the job without affecting the air flow much, if any.

- yo. Have both. They do slightly diff things. The front fender extender is very cheap from ebay (some guys from Spain) and easy to install too.

Yeah, I was worried about the fender extender. I was thinking Kawi left it open so when the wheel is spinning it would flow air into the Radiator, kinda like an air pump, and adding the fender extender would shut the pump down. Glad to hear there hasn't been any heat issues with them.

It likes to pump mud and rocks up to the radiator too.

where can I buy these 2 part's? I missed this somehow.
Several months ago i saw a kit or mod. to the mirrors for 08' models that raised the mirrors up 4 inches or so. Are these available for purchase, or a do it yourself mod?

Rad guard  http://www.coxracingroup.com/Catelog/2011_2

fender extender  http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=128.0

lt1 (of this board) makes, or used to make, a kit to raise the mirrors.
