Title: Cheat ebay/amazon hand guards?
Post by: Æon on April 13, 2017, 04:17:29 PM
Hey folks! First post here.
Just bought a lovely 2007 Concours 14 and I'm already ready to start adding a few farkles, of course.

I saw a few threads on hand guards, but most of them are quite old, or about very specific, nice, more expensive equipment.

I was wondering specifically if anyone had bought any of the cheap universal hand guards off amazon or ebay? There are tons of them on there for under $30, and since I really just wanted something to bolt on occasionally for a bit of extra wind protection during spring and fall touring, and if they suck or break, I'm not going to cry about it.

If not, is there anything I should keep in mind if I just pick some at random? Anything odd I might not realize about fitment on the bars until it's too late?

Any recommendations would be great. Thanks, all!

Ok, technically, there is no such thing...  You actually bought a 2008, which is the first model year of the C14/Concours 14/Concours 1400/1400 GTR/ZG1400 (whew, lots of names), and was available in late 2007.  Calling it a "2007" will lead to confusion when you are looking for compatible stuff.

One of the best things about the Concours- just lots of neat stuff to add and drain your wallet.

Sorry, I don't have much info on that.  :(  I originally wanted some but then came to find I really didn't need then on the 2nd gen with the higher mirrors and heated grips.  Like you said, plenty of generic stuff, but then you have to find a way to MOUNT them effectively/securely.  That can be challenging, especially if you don't want to permanently alter/damage/drill into visible plastic parts of the bike.
