I owned a FJR first.  Looks like you have a C14 already.  If you are replacing the C14, check out the FJR.

My orginal plan was to trade between the C14 and FJR every 3-4 years but frankly they are so close it seemed pointless.  I bought a KLR650 as a second bike, complete opposite of the C14 but just as fun.

If you are keeping the C14, buy something totally different as a second bike.

Guys, the question is SPORT touring not ADVENTURE touring bikes. The BMW GS series are adventure touring bikes, or dual sport if you please.

I already have another sport touring bike-87 Guzzi SP II.

The GS can be ridden pretty much anyplace/anytime. I see plenty of them on the street and it's not like they're really a dirt bike. I believe the GS is actually their best-selling model (someone is sure to correct me if I'm wrong). I remember that "fact" from someplace or other.

I see plenty of Electra Glides on the street, too, but they aren't sport touring bikes, either.

I'm considering a vstrom as the final bike in my stable to facilitate a possible future south america trip.

Excellent.  I can't believe I didn't think of that.  It's the only bike (Besides the Connie) that my dad has had 2 of.

I sat on an f800st yesterday - I would buy that bike.  I'd also like to try an nt700v but they don't sell them in Canada and the dealer in Grand Forks ND
won't sell one to a Canadian.  I find the Connie a little intimidating at low speeds and would like to try a smaller bike.
