Mine's done it 14 times that I've documented, the first at 298 miles. Not likely caused by the air filter.
General consensus has been that it's caused by a communication error (possibly collision) on the CAN bus. Also, Kawi states strong external RF interference can cause it.
Personally, I think they failed to exercise all the demons out of the bikes, though they did better on some than others.
