Phoneman ya after I got the epoxy floor down it stays pretty shiny. Ya Jim  even us new old guys are doing some wrenching.  ;D

Sorry to hijack your thread....

I love the epoxy floor.  Is it slippery when wet?  I've been considering just painting the floor rather than using epoxy because I am afraid I'll drop a bike

JJ yes it is slippery when its wet but then so is paint. I did my own epoxy floor at another house ( just a 1 bay ) for bikes and it turned out good so I decided to do it again when I moved ( to a smaller house but a bigger garage  :) ).
You can get flakes in the floors now that might make it less slippery I liked it shiny so I did not do them. No matter what you chose its important to do a good job with the prep of the concrete if not either one will flake up and you have a mess but over all the epoxy will last longer if done right.

Some of those epoxy floor kits suggest adding sand to the paint in order to minimize the slipperdyness.

Ya I've seen that too. I know with the chips you can get you just sprinkle them out on the floor while the epoxy is wet ( think throwing bird seed in a way ) and after it sets you have little ridges from the chips that give you a little grip.
I like it slick for one thing it's easier to clean up with a mop.... yes at times I mop the garage floor  ???

Again if you do it yourself the prep work will make it or break it.

Wow- talk about thread drift!

About 10 years ago I spent a lot of time cleaning my garage floor and prepping it and using an epoxy paint kit I bought from Within a year it failed where the the wheels on the car sit.  :(

Everywhere else it looked good for years, although there are other places it failed some too.  It is a bit slippery when wet.
