« on: June 26, 2011, 09:09:24 PM »
I just logged a 1,000 miles on my 14 and I have got to replace that stock seat......Has anyone here tried the different seats on the market to give me the best option?  Sargent, Corbin etc......

Yes, my a$$ was pretty much done after the bun Buner gold ride (1500 mile in 24hours).  I had a Corbin before and worked really good. Or get some gel seat insert.

yes I tried the search and the problem is whoever has a particular seat claims it's the best.  I don't want feedback from someone that tried only one and claim it's the best.  Kinda like claiming the whopper is the best burger when you never tried any others.  I want feedback from someone that has tried more than 1.

Did that on my regular seat, no problems unless you are two up. Have switched to a corbin and really like it. Not as stiff as other corbins I've had on previous bikes. Tried one of those daylong seat and found the wings (lack of a better word) to be awkward for me, pressing into my hamstrings. Just a matter of preference, tried a gel on a Busa and didn't care for either. Good luck.

Try  an airhawk. I used one on my zx14 and it made all the difference. I havent used it on the c14 though.

You will get many backers for the Corbin here, but I recommend you sit on one before you pony up $500+. Mine was like riding on a 2x4 and that was 2000 miles after the 1000 mile break-in period. I was able to sell it and get most of my money back but I wished I had known how hard they were before I purchased.

I have sit on a c14 with a Sargent and it felt good initially but that can be deceiving as only miles can truly tell the story. I have the Spencer mod on the stock seat now and it's a big improvement.

Bottom line try before you buy if at all possible. Just my .02.

That's the tough part, I haven't seen any other 14's in my area period.  So I'm relying on members here to voice their experiances.  I have had corbins on 3 different bikes and thou hard, they fit my a$$ really well.  They also kept me from sliding into the tank. Can I assume other manufacturers keep you from sliding into the tank??

It's like underwear or girl friends . . . you gotta try different ones on for size to find out which one you actually want to live with. Everybody's got an opinion but nobody butt you has your butt.  ;D

I like my Sargent, but can get a really good price on a Corbin (long story), so thinking of making the switch since I had a Corbin on my ST1100 and loved it.

I tried a Baldwin seat, nicely made but it slide me into the tank still. My wife loved it. I am 6'2" 215 lb.
I have purchased a used seat off eBay and have sent it to Spencer to have it modified. I will report on how it works out. If it doen't I am going to buy a (ugly) Russell all day.

Sargent. Last year I routinely did 800+ days. Oh, and I hear Corbins are nice, and Russel Daylongs, or Spencers. I like my Sargent though. I almost got a Corbin and really wanted one, but I didn't because of the posts saying some people had to put rolled up towels behind them in order for them to be comfortable. It seems you sit farther back on them. Not bad for those who are circumferencely well endowed. (See picture of gorilla on other seat thread.) For me, I'm thin and figured I didn't need the extra mile behind my a$$. I would have liked to sit on a Corbin to see but didn't have the chance. I had experience with Sargents on other bikes so I got it.
