Maybe the smile if from the little known vibrating function of the fob?

Just goes to show, you simply cannot ruin a KiPass thread- they are pre- ruined to start with.

 :P

Brian

FOBs are almighty pow-ah, the 'mo the bettuh!

They can make plastic smile.

I think you do need the code to activate any fob that has not been registered to that bike before. Unless it is specifically possible to register a RFID fob (or RFID portion of an RF fob) without the code but in the presence of an active, correctly registered RF fob? ??? I am not sure about this but at any rate, it would be a great idea to always keep the packaging that any fob comes with just to be sure you have what you need to use that fob.

Brian

You may run into some difficulties with Dan if he thinks that all the 'CC' fob does is hold another key. Dan is going to have to program the bike to recognize the new fob. See the attachment for some detail, you may want to print it out and take it to Dan. The programming for the 'CC' fob is slightly different than the full sized fob, one step is not needed for the 'CC' fob. Again, see the attachment.

Since they seem to be clueless about this you had better tell him NOT to throw away the code numbers that come on the package of the new fob, without that number he can toss the new fob in the dumpster too.

Correction. The 'CC' fob may not need the code numbers since all it does is deactivate the immoblizer. Brian knows more about this.

Flipping past the pages in the hope of finding some hidden stick figure pornography does NOT constitute 'reading the manual'. And doing the same thing backwards does not mean 'reading it twice'.

My 2012 came with two things: 1) a fob that only needs to be near the bike to unlock the ignition, and also has a physical key that you can slide out, and 2) a little plastic case with a physical key in it. Is item #2 what everyone's calling the 'credit card' fob? It looks nothing like a credit card. It's about 2.25"long, 1.25" wide, and about the thickness of two quarters.

Yes that's the "credit card" fob. Besides having the physical key it also has a RFID chip in it and can be used to start the bike by holding it in the correct orientation on the little protrusion in front of the stove knob. As can the regular FOB when the battery dies.

Nah, back in the day there were wood carvings and before that, paintings on cave walls. Which is why Neanderthals probably went extinct- sitting around the cave, looking at the pictures while Cro Magnon folk were out hunting and inventing stress related illnesses.
