I did not have any koolaid, but I will admit to disliking Brigestone.   I've owned way too many of their tires, and recall liking one of them.....once.  That tire was discontinued the next time I needed a replacement.

But, let us know how they work and hold up.  I know oem tires and aftermarket can be different, despite the numbering being the same. Maybe these are better than what the Ninja comes with? We'll hope for that anyway since the Ninja tires are just slightly better than riding on the bare rim.

My 08 had BTO16s on it when I bought it from the previous owner. I got around 5000 miles out of them, & they did not feel very stable to Me. I love My Pirelli Angels though.

My PR2's looked liked this (see attached) on way home in Beckley WV. I picked an AVON out of the dealerships trash pile to get me home LOL

Ive got some bridgestones 016's from cycle gear, and there fine for a sport bike, have very good grip, but with the weight of the connie, they just do not last.
2 set's of stones, mounted and balanced(500$) might give you 6,000 miles, but one set of michilin pr3's(450$) will get you 8 k miles or more, yes?
It's just so hard to resist getting a set of sticky tires for 2 hundy.
I like to use the stone 016 on the front, and a Frenchy pr3 on the back, because I'm kinda brutal on back tires, and i get the same mileage out of them that way, like 6-8 k or so. Just sayin.

Sorry to bring this back to life, but....

i HATED the BT016's on my Ninja. I have friend who is a Brigestone rep.  He offered me a trade for soem non-oem Bridgestone bt0q6 pro's   A model newer than the bto 18, btu not an oem grade.  I figured I had nothign to lose. I felt liek ti woudl eb ok to thwow both sets away dur to the cost of them, free.

So, I put the bto16 pros on. I wanted to hate them since it woudl give me a massive amount of ammo to bug the rep about. He just gav e me the conflident smile.

So, i tried them. They are great tires..I mean great. Every complaint is gone I had from before. I believe there is  a massive difference between oem quality tires and aftermarket tires. In this specific case, the oem tire might rate  a 1 on the scale, while the bt016 pro woudl be  a10.

Now, I dont think you'll see any life from these soft tires on a heavy bike like our c14, btu the aftermarket version is a damn good tire. If i find a set on sale, I'll for sure buy a back-up set for the Ninja.

I have been wondering why Bridgestone that popular and survive that long although thus your idea about the OEM tires & aftermarket might be reasonable.

How do we distinct an aftermarket tire from OEM one ??

They could all be aftermarket as Kwak doesn't make logo'd tires or if you equate OEM with the specific tires that come on it then anything other than that (even in the same brand) could be aftermarket.  I guess it's more on how you perceive the definitions.

To compare the tires side-by-side, you would never know the difference.  They looked IDENTICAL.  T oem tire had an very small "F" somewhere in the model number, but visually, good luck.

Oddly enough, the good tire (non oem) weighed a pound more than the crap tire.  Otherwise.....nothing.

Even the forks felt better after the tire change. Softer and much more compliant.

If you go with Brigestone tires, make sure you get the BT023-GT, Not the regular 023, 016 or the 021. The regular 023 and 016 are for lighter bikes and the 021 just suck.
