Cigarette scocket loose conection

I have a new bike and a new Escort radar unit and under acceleration it comes unpluged ? any ideas? Thanks jj

same problem here with my gps power connector.
i used some electrical tape and put a few layers around the cigarette lighter plug, right where the plug stops when it's fully inserted.

Very common problem, rubber band around the plug should fix it temporarily.
Long term fix.....use a BMW style socket and plug.

I use a black flat wire tie, lay it in the socket, plug in the plug and cut off the excess. works great.

Easy fix, plug your radar plug in the socket, then wedge a toothpick in between the gap in the socket wall and the plug (use a flat head screwdriver or it will hurt your finger), then break off the end of the toothpick sticking out. Done! I had your same problem, did this and all has been well for a year and a half now, it's in there solid!

Great fix I've found is to attach a thin strip of the furry side of Velcro to the male portion. This tightens the fit enough so there is no movement or play to allow it to work out.

Tiny strip, less than a quarter of an inch.

BINGO......except I lined the socket instead. This works great, fits nice and snug and has never come close to working its way out.

A high quality radar detector isn't much good unless it's connected to a power source.  My '09 had the same problem no matter what was plugged into it.  My solution was to replace the stock socket with one purchased at an auto parts store.  It's a simple job and the stock rubber cover can be used with the replacement socket.

Man I'm doing this to ALL my sockets , just half the socket is all that is needed, kind of over did it on the first one

Glad you gave it a try, I guess I could've told you how much to use. I just used a small strip at the base of the socket "top and bottom" now it is tighter than a mouses ear.
